After years of teasing fans with the promise of a fourth installment of the "Indiana Jones" franchise, development is finally moving ahead, according to Variety.

Steven Spielberg, George Lucas and Harrison Ford confirmed Monday that Paramount - with Lucasfilm producing - is set to begin filming the latest "Indy" flick in June from a script by David Koepp ("Spider-Man," "War of the Worlds").

The studios are eyeing a May 2008 worldwide release -- nearly two decades after the release of the last film "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade."

Of course, the big question for fans has been whether Ford would reprise his role as the adventuring archeologist. He had long said that he would take up the whip again if he liked the script. Apparently, he does. Confirming his participation in the new film, Ford said, "I'm delighted to be back in business with my old friends. I don't know if the pants still fit, but I know the hat will."

There's no word on an official title (although IMDb lists the working title to be "Indiana Jones and the Ravages of Time" ... I'm hoping that's a joke) and producers won't disclose the storyline.

Movieweb also lists that several former franchise leading ladies will make cameo appearances and that the film will be set in the 1950's. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what the latest script gives us. I, for one, would love to see Kate Capshaw (Spielberg's wife) back on the big screen with Ford. I also hope we're done with the Nazi plot line. I could do with some new foes. -- Shannon Nolley"

According to Andrew Mercado from the Sydney Sunday Telegraph dated June 17, Alan Dale is in the movie and the character he is playing is a secret role. Wonder what it could be.

Also in the movie is Cate Blanchett.

Just saw the movie.

I thought it was a lot of fun. Great to see Karen Allen back as Marion and Cate Blanchett was very good as the villain.
Indy's use of the fridge for a certain predicament did not seem convincing to me.

I read that there is talk of doing a fifth film but if Kingdom of the Crystal Skull does become the last then it is nice end to the series.

Ben McEachen in the Sydney Sunday Telegraph gave it three and a half stars saying that it "provides a fitting send-off to an amazing ageing friend."

Terrible movie. I would have thought that Harrison Ford would have rejected the script it was so bad. Sell out George Lucas could hardly have fallen any lower but he did.

I saw the movie last night. I must say that I loved the movie. It was great for what it was. Everything that was unrealistic in the movie was things that are common in all the Indiana Jones movies. Granted there are very few movie series that could get away with some of the unbelievable scenes but Indiana Jones can. The style of the movie was the same as the first 3. I miss seeing movies from hollywood where they don't have to spend half the movie building characters or rely to heavily on special effects. This movie did niether of those.

To Australian viewers:
In this week's At The Movies both Margaret and David did not think it was anything spectacular although David did give a higher rating than Margaret.
David gave it three and a half stars while Margaret gave it two and a half stars.

Well, saw it yesterday, and sure enough, if I am ever in a Nuclear Blast, I'm getting in the nearest Fridge.

The film overall, I'd give it 8/10. Was a good all round film, though I wasn't too sure about the Alien involvement. Personally, Indiana Jones doesn't belong in the Sci-fi genre, not really, but this one was, due to the inclusion of Aliens. Why they felt they needed to do this is beyond my knowledge, but they did.

All the other films were about historic items, this one, had aliens. Didn't work all that well... I knew at the start (when that Russian Woman opened up that Tomb in the Warehouse) that it was an Alien she saw, don't know whether anyone else noticed that or not?

I've also heard 'rumours' that they're going to be making another one (or two) with that Transformers kid (forgot his name) as the main star. I hope they don't. Indiana Jones and Harrison Ford go together perfectly, putting an Indiana Jones storyline, around a new character, in my opinion, wont work.

In my opinion the alien deal was a bit of a stretch but if you think about the history of the crystal skulls. It makes some sense. There are some that think that mankind of the past was able to achieve such great works because of alien involvement. Granted I am not one of those but the theory is still there. So, it is not so much sci-fi as it is just another theory of past events.

Whilst the theory may be a genuine one, they didn't actually need to show Aliens. Could have ended it some other way or something?

I just saw this film-- I was rather fond of it in its parts, but the whole was not worth my time.

I frankly don't see Shia Laboeuf the same way as Harrison Ford, and I doubt I ever will.

And honestly, the Cate Blanchett character was hollow and pointless. They could've established her as the Soviet version of Indy if they wanted to, but they needed her to be a cold-hard-bitch a little too much.

I feel very tempted to blame George Lucas for this. Something tells me I could find a very compelling case to do exactly that, without looking very hard at all....
