• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

We have a policy of fairness and a non harassment environment, with the staff quick to act on the rare occasion of when this policy is breached. Feel free to register and join our community.

Yes, and that is not the same model you posted in the previous post's pictures. Don't be moving the goalposts just to tell me I'm wrong, lol.

What was pictured in the previous post was a BOP with two extra guns slung underneath. The Qud is very different.

The one pictured in your latest post is a lot closer to the Qud, with the correct wings, at least. The head is still a BOP head though, while the Qud's is a different shape, as is the mid-body section (more raked and triangular).

In addition, BOP is a generic term for a whole design-family of fast attack ships ranging from Escort to Cruiser size categories, so technically the Qud IS a form of heavy bird of prey anyway.

Its the same model after about 2 hours of texture work and mesh tweeks. Its one of the models I found on the old HD. I haven't had it to work on for 10 years. As far as the head goes I'm not sure if I'm going to change it any because the original mesh from KA was just a modified BOP. Mine is already different in the back because it doesn't make since to lose the bulk of the Engineering spaces even if the ship is 3 times as big as a B'rel .

As far as naming conventions go my head cannon leans more toward the old SFB stile where Warbird is the catch all term and BOP denotes an escort class vessel. Something to do with there not being a human equivalent to the Romulan animal that they use to refer to escort class warbirds. The Klingons only begrudging use the term because of the class has such a long and storied history . Therefore you have BOP(EC-FF), Warhawks(DD), WarEagles(CL, CA, BC), and Condors (DN, BB). Not tiring to be argumentative. Hope this clears that up.

Trying to bring this project back... Currently checking whether I have enough cloud memory somewhere to at least upload the old MSFC files that are no longer available.

I have 100GB of Google Cloud storage.... couldn't we reupload the old MSFC files back to MSFC though?

We could, yeah. I personally don't think anyone who had their files available here before the old file server was shut down would mind seeing them up again. The only problem is that the current system kind of expects people to upload their own stuff, and I'm not sure we can upload files for other people, so to speak.

EDIT: I just checked. We can. Or at least I can, since I have staff rights.

EDIT 2: Okay, so to get this project going, I'll see if I can upload some of the missing files from the old file server in the next days. If any forum member doesn't want their old files (or a specific file) to be re-uploaded, please let me know. I will also take down any uploaded files once requested by the original creator. I take this seriously. I might also check back with some people just to make sure they don't mind. Also, it's probably going to be mostly old retexes by @Jetfreak.

I know for a fact that my TOS Connie pack was among the files that were lost.. so I would be okay with it personally...

I checked quickly and couldn't find it in my archives... someone else may have it though. If all else fails, I think Maj may have a backup of the old download server.

------

In related news, the first batch of old files is up! Some of them are still up on armadafiles, though some definitely aren't. For some of them there I had no screenshots/pictures in my archive, I'll have to stop by AF later and see if I can add some.

Aye aye captain!

Also, I still need to figure out what to do with the files originally uploaded by people who are no longer a part of this community and thus have no account any more. I have a bunch of Thunderfoot's work that I'd really like to see re-uploaded...

Yeah, leaving the readmes would be good, and its all modding history now. Best go for broke in this case.

Glad to have your support, folks. I always upload the whole package anyway, just grab the zip file from the archives as I downloaded them way back in the day. Still need to figure out which user to assign the orphaned uploads to - I'm considering using the Staff Account, which hasn't seen any use for many years anyway.

So here we go - another batch of old files from FileKitteh's archives. This time, it's the entirety of my Terran Empire folder, with a bunch of fine works by Thunderfoot and Jetfreak. Please visit our Resources section to view the uploads!

I did process these relatively quickly, so if you see anything wrong with the uploads (or really any of the uploads I do as part of this project), please do let me know.

Alright, here is the next batch, the Romulans! Featuring some great work from Jetfreak and Thunderfoot. Quite a few of these are originally from BI:VR, which is still a great mod despite its age. There's also plenty of TMP era stuff in here.

I'm glad to hear you're enjoying these! :)

----

Today's batch are the Klingons - some great retextures of older models by Jetfreak, and one new ship by our own EAS_Intrepid (also check out Thunderfoot's addon to that ship).

Also, @Jetfreak - I found your retexture of the Nethak, but it's missing a readme and such, and I'm not sure you've ever publicly released it. Please let me know if you want it or anything.

Qap'la, honor to the House of Kit'teh!

I've completely forgotten what the Nethak is lol, would you mind sending via PM, I'd like to have a see on the item first. Perhaps it can jog my memory and finally add a proper description!

You're welcome! It's good to see that people are finding new homes for these great works. There's really no point in keeping them on my archival HDD where no one can use them.

Yards are indeed not easy to come by, given that most modders have historically focused on the ships. I myself mostly scavenge them from AOW (Art of War) or BI:VR (Borg Incursion: Vital Response), as well as some of the great full-race mods we've seen over time. Aad Moerman also made some great ones as part of his quest to re-model the stock ships and stations.

More uploads coming today, hopefully. I haven't even touched my Federation folder yet. It scares me a bit.

Hey Terra, I just packed up the Ne'thak for release and I also threw in a playmate, the Charger Class. My files say these were circa 2011 revamps that never saw release due to time constraints or whatever.

Thanks a lot, good to finally see these in the resource section after all these years.

A revamped TOS Connie pack will be incoming from me as well.. keep the eyes open
Sounds good! Looking forward to it! :)

I'll see if I can get a few more files uploaded from my archives as well.

EDIT: Alright, here are some Jetfreak retextures of various factions, most notably of the Dominion ships.
