• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

    Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

    We have a policy of fairness and a non harassment environment, with the staff quick to act on the rare occasion of when this policy is breached. Feel free to register and join our community.

Hello I go my the nick RYDERSTORM Some of you may know me a lil bit from the FO forum. For the rest of you I will tell you lil bout myself.

I am a 25 year old male living in the state of Ohio which is in the USA. I live basicly in a rural area which has its ups and downs as you can Imagine. I spend most of my free time Either Modding STA II FO or attempting to teach myself to model vessels and create textures. So far I am competent at making meshs but completely inept at textureing. I do also work on odfs and sprites wf al pics and just about everything else I can. Also I have horible spelling so please forgive me for that. Also I am a big fan of some other Lines of games mostly RTS and RPG based. Some of those are. C&C, Dynasty Warriors series, Kessen serries, Empire Earth series, The Civilization Series, Most of the Final Fatasy series, and of course Star Trek games.

I am also a big sci-fi nut. ST,B5,BSG,SAAB, are up at the top of my favorite series. Also sometimes I love to kick back with a run of Red Dwarf :lol2:

When I dont have free time I am usually at work. I am a machinist working in a small "jobshop" which basicly means we are known as a fast turn around shop. Not big in high volume production but of filling orders out very quickly sometimes even same day. One of the nice things about the current recession is I havent had any overtime at work which gave me time to discover modding. One of the bad things of the recession is no overtime. But life goes on, just have to be thankful I still have a job.

For anybody that needs help or advice with modding Im more than happy to lend a hand. Though most of my experience is with STA II FO 3.0.7 but I will help any way I can usually. Sometimes the ignorant can give a veteran a fresh perspective:idea:

Ok enough about me. I was only Famous once.....

Welcome to MSFC, so you mod Fleet Ops? That's from what I heard is tricky with so many odf's to change etc.

I hope you enjoy your time with us and become a regular contributor to our community. If ever in doubt about anything feel free to ask the staff (coloured usernames) they are a friendly and knowledgeable bunch.

Ah we'll get along just fine, I like EE1, Number two is okay but not as good, EE3 I found pretty bad, just couldn't figure it out. :lol:

Yeah the number of odfs can sometimes be a pain...I think to add in a ship properly I have to write 12 odfs just for the ship itself. Which isnt too bad if u clone the odfs. And if u add in mixed tech variations or warpin well then it starts getting to be a pain and the numbers go up.

Personally I like number 2 the best. number one was good as well and number 3....well I think they droped the ball on that one.

I just didn't like how you needed to capture territory in #2. I found it too restricting personally.

I actually liked that feature but as I always say to each their own

Thank you for the warm welcome people. from the looks of things I will like it here. I hope soon I will have some things to contribute to the comunity here.

Just so everyone knows I allmost exclusively play Armada II nowadays. Its my addiction :lol2:. So far I havent found any other rts games that quite satisfy me quite like A2 does. mmmm now I have to get back to my other addiction..my girlfriend.

As for M2 well I think Maj has given up all hope of ever getting me to play it! :lol2: It just does not like Vista and my pc only runs on Vista, it refuses to run anything else! lol anyways if you need any help with anything just ask ;)

M2?

I also run vista...so far ive conquered every issue with it so far but I also know some people have the bad ju-ju karma install of vista....
