• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

    Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

    We have a policy of fairness and a non harassment environment, with the staff quick to act on the rare occasion of when this policy is breached. Feel free to register and join our community.

Hey man, good to see you here! Most of the activity of FF has moved to here and FO.net (amazing what you can do with FlOps nowadays), though we're still hoping to repopulate FF as soon as Break's IT team gets the site patched.

We still have a lot of projects going on, and in a few days and posts, you can zip over to our download section and get some of the exclusive stuff we have to offer. I think it showcases clearly how far we've come in terms of mod quality. We also have some active TC and semi-TC projects being WIP here, take a look at them, too!

Also, if you have anything to show off, don't hesitate to do that! It's the best way to get feedback!

Haha I certainly have seen a few faces I remember :)

I haven't modelled or modded A2 in such a long time, I decided to reinstall it the other day and get FLOPs for it, had a fair bit of fun and got my *** whooped too xD

Mostly been concentrating on university at the moment, going into my third year in September. Been coding mostly in OpenGL, C#/C++ and XNA :D

Yeah, they tend to do that, competitive FO is definitely more complicated than A2! I've played some matches online w/ a friend and had the same happening to me. :p

Same here. Heading quickly towards the 5th semester, though over here they start in October.

Did you ever continue with all that BattleFleet Gothic stuff you were doing for A2? I still have all the files you sent me. Some of it showed a great deal of promise and looked near to completion. I tried finishing some of it so I could release it under your name. Sadly, it was all just a bit beyond my skill set to do so.

Nah mate I stopped with that a looooong time ago, not sure if I'd pick it up again =/ Don't even think I have any of those old files now, I think they were lost with a recent format on my old computer :(

With my third university year starting in Sept, I don't think I'd have enough time to commit to completing a mod for A2, nevermind re-doing all those BFG ships. It's a shame really because personally I think my skills with 3D modelling and texturing have come a looooong way due to university work. If I were to do another mod, it probably wouldn't be BFG though.

Plus, the A2 engine, as fun as it was, is terribly dated and limited nowadays compared to the engines of games like Sins of a Solar Empire or Fleet Ops (the latter of which, to me, is more complicated lol).

Well, okay. I believe I have an archived copy of the whole thing somewhere. If you ever want it, for whatever reason, just ask. BTW, I am about 39 years older than the A2 engine. I don't feel, ahem, "dated", at all. rofl!
