Greetings , my fellow MSFCers
Tholian_Storm here , your man in the know!
I'm quite aware that we have quite a few HALO fans on here.. ::waits for the applause and cheers to die down:: ...so I thought I would bring you all some HALO news courtesy of one of the Battletech Networks ( yes , we do talk about other things there...) I belong to.

WIZKIDS ANNOUNCES HALO ACTIONCLIX COLLECTABLE MINIATURES GAME
WizKids Inc. announced an agreement with Bungie Studios and Microsoft to develop Halo™ ActionClix®, a collectable miniatures game (CMG). The Halo ActionClix CMG brings the Halo universe to the tabletop via the Clix miniatures game engine.

"Expanding the Halo universe into the Clix CMG is a perfect fit," said Brian Jarrard, director of Franchise and Community Affairs at Bungie Studios. "WizKids' commitment to authentic detail ensures that Halo ActionClix will appeal to collectors and CMG players alike."

Halo ActionClix will feature more than 80 miniatures from the Halo universe, including preview content from Halo 3. Vehicle Packs will be produced, including a surprise for San Diego Comic-Con.

"We are proud to be associated with the Halo brand," said Lax Chandra, WizKids® president. "The phenomenal Halo universe provided a springboard for innovation in tabletop miniatures gaming."

The Halo ActionClix CMG, expected to be released in September 2007, will prerelease figures at San Diego Comic-Con July 26 – 29, and Gen Con Indy August 16 – 19.

WIZKIDS UNVEILS EXCLUSIVE HALO 3 SCARAB AT SAN DIEGO 2007 COMIC-CON

Bellevue, WA (July 25, 2007) WizKids, Inc. today released its collector’s edition battle-damaged Halo 3 Scarab figure at Comic-Con (booth #2743 at the San Diego Convention Center). The figure, which is the largest miniature (24†x 24†x 20â€) WizKids has ever produced, was displayed as part of the public debut of the Halo® ActionClixâ„¢ Collectable Miniatures Game. One lucky winner walked away with the figure, which is priced at $250. Other show attendees have been submitting their names for the opportunity to buy one of 500 show-exclusive battle-damaged Scarabs. This never-before-seen battle-damaged Scarab featured in Halo 3, is a towering Covenant tank, upheld on four long mechanical legs. It is the largest ground vehicle in the Halo universe, and its armor is highly resistant to human and Covenant weapons alike. Recent UNSC intelligence reports indicate the best way to take the Scarab down is to climb aboard and tear it apart from the inside.

The Halo ActionClix game brings the incredible content of the Halo universe to players’ tabletops via the award-winning Clix miniatures game engine. Players are able to replicate the exciting multiplayer action from all three Halo games using high-quality pre-painted, plastic miniatures of Halo characters and vehicles. Players field teams in battles of Halo’s USNC, Covenant or mixed teams, and are able to jump right into the action and enjoy Halo game mechanics, including weapon swaps, figure re-spawning and vehicle-based combat. Each game piece has a unique combat dial that lists their constantly evolving stats, and a character card that list specific abilities of that piece. Using different “move and shoot†capabilities, as well as blocking terrain (walls and debris), players move their pieces – vying for the best shot to take down their opponent’s pieces.

Launching in September, Halo ActionClix Series One will have more than 80 pieces, including Hunter Combat Pack, Warthog Pack and Banshee Pack. Packs include exclusive Halo 3 preview content. The series also features two main booster pack varieties – a $10 pack (4 game figures, 4 stat cards, 2 die, rules and map) and an $11 pack ( 5-figure blind pack with 5 figures, 5 stat cards, rules and map).

I've already seen the following units:

MASTER CHIEF
TARTARUS
ODST TROOPER
ARBITER
HUNTER
BATTLE DAMAGED SCARAB (ComicCon Exclusive)

And they look great. But just because of the swell guy I am , I'm giving you all a sneak peak look at the Damaged Scarab , but don't tell WizKids

Scarab_HAC_LowRes.jpg

This thing is quite possibly the most absolutely ginormous thing I've ever seen , and I've got the Ral Partha Leopard CV-class DropShip for Classic Battletech!

This has been Tholian_Storm , your eye in the sky , reporting.

Honor and Xin Sheng to you all!

Sweet. I wonder if the models themselves would be able to be converted to Warhammer and stuff. I'd love to do a Halo based 40k army.

Also sorry this is off-topic kinda.

Sounds good, but I've never played that tabletop game. And assuming that 'man' is the size of the bottom of my middle finger, then that walker is huge :lol2:

Have some rep for good news =]

I'll see if I can find the conversion rules because I do know some people who have adapted MechWarrior : Dark Age to Warhammer 40k. When I find it , I'll give you a buzz , cool?

The MASTER CHIEF Figure (the 'man') is roughly about 1-1.5" in height , so more like half of your keyboard's SPACEBAR.

No problem. I figured I'd drop it like it was hot , but as new stuff comes out for it , I'll post news. We've still got 20 days til Launch (at least here in the US of A) so there'll be more , I'm sure.

I have the conversion rules and stuff myself (Chapter Approved Series) but I would like to know how they're put together and stuff, if they're solid plastic or 'stuck' together.

I actually haven't played tabletop WH40K in ages. Need to get a battle goin' soon

Only 1"-1.5" MC? !!! Gah. It looks way bigger, like, 10 times the height of MC himself :lol2: That'd be about 8 or so inches tall at least. Come on like, scaling to game terms lol that 'foot' was enough to crush a man into the ground.

Its actually a worldwide release of Halo 3, like it was for Halo 2. In other words pretty much every country or major gaming country has it released on the same day. :excited:

From what I've seen so far (just single figures themselves) , they are plastic figurines set on a hard base that rotates as your unit takes damage , but I've kitbashed a couple of figures from MWDA and they aren't that hard to pull off the bases (given patience and a sharp X-Acto Knife) if you wanted to.

But that scaling is right , from what I know. Most Clix figures (MWDA and HorrorClix , at least) are roughly that size (between 1" and 1.5") and that SCARAB is 24" tall , including the support bases that cup the feet , so it seems about right to me , but I'll know more once they open the section up a little more.

Hmm, if you could please keep me posted on the sizes of the Warthog and such, jus to see if it'd be big enough to tear apart and shove a lascannon or something on the back

Jus if everything is scaled to MC, who is 1" or so, then might as well screw the idea lol. It'd be too small.

But if ye could keep me posted. As well as everyone else :D Thanks

And now I'm away to sleep. G'night

I know the video games are good to go simultaneously , but these HALOClix , I'm not so sure about. I know the UK and Japan had to wait three months when they released MechWarrior Dark Age Clix and HorrorClix , so...dunno. Maybe you guys'll see 'em when we do , maybe not. I'll have to check with some of the RAs and Admins over on those Forums to find out.

Apologies for the double post , everyone

haha great, love halo :D

if I see them in stores I'll prob buy them, oops.

If any of you are interested I saw possibly the coolest game merch EVER on amazon....

HALO THEMED LIGHT GUNS (or laser tag)

So far there are plans for the plasma rifle and the plasma pistol. To my knowledge the plasma pistol is accurate size 12". But not sure about hte plasma rifle, meant to b 24" long or there abouts so i doubt it. But it rumbles when u shoot and when it overheats the vents on the sides open. How cool and tacky is that.

Dam, I can see where my student loan is going..... but both retail for about £60+ (not sure what that is in other countrys, but its a fair bit ) and that is single guns, not packs of two

Been meaning to post some of the Figurine & Rules Reviews for the HALO ActionClix line here for some time, but I've been a bit preoccupied for a bit. Anybody who's still hemhawin' about in their local game store about whether or not to give this line a test run should bear with me while I get my notes in order. In short order, the Figures are nicely detailed and the rules are easy to understand. More to come once my head's on straight again.

Honor and Xinsheng.
