Any of you play any games online?
Up until just before christmas last year I was playing Bad Company 2 a lot, and kind of burned myself out on it (still go on occassionally but usually for only one round before I log off bored). Games I'm still playing online right now;

Sol Survivor - it's a cheap tower-defence strategy game you can get off steam for 5€. Really good fun in the coop or versus online modes.

BC2 - not so much anymore, pretty typical FPS affair but with alot more destruction and a handful of vehicles.

Men of War - WW2 strategy/tactical game, fair bit of micromanagement, great modding support and a well-rounded online game mode, pretty good buy if you ask me (and I think it's even cheaper with Assault Squad, a stand-alone expansion pack, coming out soon).

I play a couple: FO of course, but not very often any more, Transformers:war for cybertron(an excellent shooter IMO), and occasionally SW: Republic Commando

Good thread!

Agreed, quite possibly the best Transformers game ever made I would say. Really looking forward to the second one :)

As for me, don't know if it counts but Lord of the Rings Online is my usual. Well, only. I've only got silver on the Xbox; and the I'm more likely to have word open than a game on the 'puter...

I used to play a lot of MW4:Mercs with MP3.1. Sometimes at night, when you go online with the newest MP3 version and join the theme park server, you might find a 85ton BlackHeart tagged as TN_Lambda. That would be me.

Otherwise, I've never played much online, due to having 28k internet until a year ago.

i got that transformers game around xmas in the sales on steam, haven't taken it online (to be honest I didn't even realise it had a supported online feature in the PC version )

I would love to be able to play MW4 online unfortunately I can't get it to work without a CTD after 2 mins on my PC, think I read it doesn't work properly on windows xp sp3, if you have any hints on how to get it to work that'd be great :ty:

I don't know if it does, as I got it for my newly acquired ps3. Just bought the first dlc as well, so that should help keep me from getting kicked off every once in a while for not having a map.

This is by far one of my favorite shooters of all time though. I wasn't sure I would like it that much, because i generally don't like shooters, but I really enjoy this one. :yum:

I'm considering NFS World, going back to Rockport and Palmont probably justifies the whole game lol

Don't really care for shooters, mostly. RTS is my preferred game genre. Used to play a lot of CnC:GEN or CnC:ZH online. Have a ton of skin mods for it and some very cool music mods as well. There are some very well done, really enjoyable multiplayer maps available all over the place for the both of these. Sadly, the crowd I played with all went pffft! when CnC4 came out. Not a big fan of what EA did to the game. I grew up playing Pen and Paper games in the Seventies and Eighties. There is a social aspect to this which online gaming does not satisfy and cannot compete with. Despite VOIP and webcams. It was really enjoyable to look your opponent in the eye whilst playing AH's Squad Leader right after you sprang the perfect trap on his PzKwVI's. What I do now mostly is play/host LAN parties. These can be really fun and are always exciting. Especially when we are playing Dawn of War: Dark Crusade. For some reason I am unsure of I like playing as the Imperial Guard.

You should look in to Men of War, it's getting on a bit (actually it's only two, maybe three years old I think) but it's definitely still a great game, and absolutely rules at LAN-style gaming.

I only know 2 of those games, WoW and EVE. Eve was definitely a great game, but I gave it up for a year or two while doing my apprenticeship in the UK and sadly when I returned the whole community I played with had dissapated and my character(s) were no longer ueber :lol2: so I didn't renew the sub past a month. Shame really, because internet spaceships is serious business.

Cool thread idea:clap:

I play;

XBOX (now sadly red ring of death'd)

Halo 3
Call of duty 4 Modern Warfare (imho the greatest FPS multiplayer experience)
Left 4 Dead
Left 4 Dead2
FEAR
GTA4

PC

Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare
Call of Duty World at War (the zombie X mod rocks)
Left 4 Dead
Left 4 Dead2
Starcraft (tried it, didnt get it...dont see what made it so popular)
Dawn of War Soulstorm
MW4 MERCS (played with Terra and I can vouch he is one mean mech driver)
Counterstrike Source
Team Fortress 2
Day of Defeat Source
Zombie Panic Source
Zombie Master

Although tbh I am most likely to be found playing either Left 4 Dead 2 or CoDWaW over on steam (look for JR_dinosaur_JR)

Mekmatch. Do you have the semi-official MekPak 3.1? Then you just need to take care of your NAT (port forwarding can be a problem, I posted a thread about it somewhere in our forums) and you're ready to hop online.

(BTW, if you have the retail version of the game, it won't work. it's not supported anymore since the release of the free MP3.1.)

Starcraft (tried it, didnt get it...dont see what made it so popular)

It is an awesome game, but the people playing online rarely play with "military" tactics. I don't really know how to describe the gaming methods of the Starcraft community... it's more number crunching about unit attack and defense stats than warfare IMO.

Myself I do not play any games online. I used to play Operation: Flashpoint, SWAT 4 and sometimes Counterstrike over LAN (with two or three other people maximum, I don't like "LAN-parties").
Though: When you played SWAT 4 Counterstrike gets really booooring ^^.

If you liked tactical play you should try Arma2 and get on to a "private" server. Some of those communities take the whole soldier-play to the extreme.

X-Box 360 for me. I don't play PC games online, I also don't play the 360 online much due to too many *insert inappropriate word here* you find online doing team killing over a weapon or vehicle or just for kicks.

I'll only play when I have a friend to play with whom also has a microphone so we can chat and rip-off the looser whom just killed us for that sniper rifle.

But if anyone wants a game over XBox Live just hit me up, my user name is John Majest.

I gave it up for two years, stopped playing in december 2008 due to not wanting to run into my ex... I found the same thing when I returned to EVE for a free 5 days last month just before Christmas... Hardly anyone I knew was around anymore.. Though I thoroughly enjoyed being back and having a good go at it, at this stage with the amount of saving that Maj and I currently must do i have to choose which I want more... WoW or EVE and tbh I play WoW more and am enjoying cataclysm
