My favourite Star Destroyer is a cross between the Imperial class and the Acclamator class.

Star Destroyer? Give me a Nebulon-B any day!

But if I must, just an Imperator would be fine.

That is a good point. Would a specialty ship like an Interdictor or Revenge-class Heavy Carrier count?

the interdictor as far as i know has always been classified as a star destroyer. ive got a tie between an Interdictor and the eclipse SD ( ya dont see it until you crash into it) .

nothign beats crusing along in hyperspace and then suddenly coming back to normal space in the middle of a waiting imperial fleet and thinking to yourself "aww crap....."

No clue what the class name is, but just the standard Star Destroyer from A New Hope...and maybe the Eclipse...I can see it with a cloaking device for an odd reason...

I'd probably go with the Victory II, its a good heavy cruiser design it has good firepower and is ideally suited for space combat. The may not be able to land and deploy troops but their disproportionately powerful planetary bombardment capabilities make that unnecessary.

Nope, that was an Imperator Class Mk-1 also known as Imperial Class Mk-1. There are no Victory Class SDs in any of the movies.

The practical model was redone for ESB and ROTJ and there are major differances in detail that lead to the ISD-II designation for that model which is my favourite SD followed by the Venator from ROTS

ISD! Nice, strong, deadly. Venator is nicer but it's too weak.

Cannon: Eclipse SSD, you can't go far wrong with a superlaser.
Non-Cannon: Pellaeon SD, because it makes the Eclipse II look weak and tiny. Eight superlasers, going on a few thousand turbolasers, hundreds of heavy ion cannons, and lots more missile tubes. Oh, tips the scale at two Death Stars and is nearly as big and long as Centerpoint.:Y

Just a bit of clarification on the Term "Star Destroyer" Many have it confused that the only Star Destroyers where used by the Old Republic (at her end) and The Empire. Where most people are wrong is that Star Destroyer is a Classification of Size and Potential power rather than Design.

Star Destroyer was a term used to describe both a certain type of medium-sized[1] capital ship[2] used by the Galactic Republic, the Galactic Empire, the New Republic, the Imperial Remnant, the Galactic Federation of Free Alliances, the Alliance-in-exile, the Fel Empire and Darth Krayt's Sith Empire, as well as heavily armed warships in general.[3] The term originated with the idea of a warship powerful enough to destroy entire star systems, and did not necessarily indicate a destroyer type vessel

On the commentary track of the Revenge of the Sith DVD, George Lucas referred to General Grievous's ship, a Providence-class carrier/destroyer, as a "Star Destroyer." This might mean that the term "Star Destroyer" is not supposed to be restricted to dagger-shaped warships, which fits with the existence of the Bakura-class. However, this was likely just a generalization.

Interestingly enough, the term "Star Destroyer" is used both for different classes of destroyers and as a general term for most dagger-shaped warships in use by the Empire, from smaller frigates like Demolisher to giant dreadnoughts like Executor and Eclipse. This has created some confusion, as many sources often do not specify what kind of warship they are talking about, other than writing "Star Destroyer" or "Imperial Star Destroyer". Since many stories have historically focused on the mile-long Imperial-class, it is used as a default reference unless stated otherwise.

That said I would like to Change my Earlier Choice from the SSD's to the Imperial II Class Star Destroyer.

I like the New Republic Star Destroyers, smaller with better defense while still being deadly on offense.

I still remember sitting in the theatre back in '77 watching the opening scene from Star Wars. Seeing Leia's ship running from something as fast as it would go. Then the No Man's Land with laser pulses flashing back and forth, music beginning to grow louder... And then, that skull white dagger shape, lengthening and broadening impossibly as it majestically filled the entire screen. And just when we all thought it could get no bigger or better, it continued to grow. I was thunderstruck. Along with everyone else in the theatre. Made a permanent impression on my then fifteen year old brain. Executor never really measured up, did she? I think this is because we never got the chance to be as close to her. In TESB, we saw the scene where Han attached the Millenium Falcon to the backside of the command tower and we finally began to get a sense of just how huge one of these was.

There have been others which are impressive and probably much larger and better ships. But I'll always favorite the first one. John Dykstra and ILM made a beautiful ship and Goerge Lucas showed her off in the best possible way.

Hi.My Favorite Star Destroyer is the classic ones from the Episodes IV - A New Hope. That one is a real Star Destroyer :)
Recently, I found some information about the very first Star Destroyer, called Cantwell. I found some sketches and using this, I build a 3D model for my Star Trek Armada, using MilkShape 3D.
The first Star Destroyer prototype was created by Colin Cantwell.

About the Cantwell class Star Destroyer:
The Cantwell-class Star Destroyer is one of the earliest predecessors to the Imperial Star Destroyer design. During the Clone Wars, this ship was designed to act as a reconaissance capital ship; deep behind enemy lines, the Cantwell was often isolated from the rest of the Republic fleet, and as such was forced to survive on its own for extended periods. When encountering enemy forces, the ship had to be powerful enough to survive a sustained attack and bring back information intact. The ship, though smaller and less heavily armed than the modern Star Destroyer, was crafted in the now-familiar wedge design, which gives it the designation of Star Destroyer. Cantwell Star Destroyers were used until the end of the Clone Wars, at which point their mission profile essentially ceased to exist. Overshadowed by newer designs, such as the Victory Star Destroyers, most Cantwells were decomissioned and sold off to various regional governments, particularly the Centrality and the Corporate Sector Authority.
