• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

We have a policy of fairness and a non harassment environment, with the staff quick to act on the rare occasion of when this policy is breached. Feel free to register and join our community.

There is a new space sim mmo coming soon called Elite: Dangerous. I have found out about this game from one of the STO forums and took a look. All I can say is :y This game is absolutely beautiful and it is what I have been wanting for a very very long time. You can travel anywhere in the entire galaxy and do what ever you want. 400 billion systems to travel to. It doesn't stop there. Future expansions will include planet surfaces too. If you do not want to worry with other players, there is a solo play option as well. I have been watching videos of it on youtube and I am just breath taken by the beauty and enormity of it. I want so bad to play this game but I have two problems. First and most easily fixed is that it is $50 USD to preorder. Second is that I do not possess a machine powerful enough to run it.

Check it out here.

Looking cool, what STO should had been.

Clearly a lot of talent, dedication and passion has gone into making this.

Agreed. I would have LOVED if STO would have been like that. The neat thing is, this project was done with backers via a kickstarter. Absolutely amazing work they have done. I watched a panel where a dev was talking saying they want this game to have multiple aspects to it. What they don't want to do is released half baked or half completed content. They want to make certain every aspect is right before moving on to the next. At launch, they are focusing solely on space flight. Next they may work on atmospheric flight. They will work on that until it is right before moving on to say ground transportation. This sounds like something that has real staying power if managed right. Now I HAVE to get a new machine.

Been following this as well through PC Gamer and vids. It looks incredible. IIRC I think they were also using the Oculus Rift with this game as well in initial tests and commented how well it fit into the game play to look around and such

This game is currently on sale on Steam for 75% off until 04/14. I am considering picking it up on the cheap to check it out.

Likewise. Was browsing through Steam and saw it, figured why not.
Got the parts for a new gaming rig arriving over the next few days, and with my dissertation approaching completion, the light at the end of the tunnel is getting brighter! :D

Went through with it and bought just the base game. If I like it enough and play it regularly, I will get addons later.
