Thicker Than Water is an audio story written by Paul Sutton featured The Sixth Doctor, Mel and Evelyn, released from Big Finish in September 2005.

The story is a sequel to Sutton's Sixth Doctor and Evelyn story Arrangements For War when Evelyn fell in love Rossiter played by Gabriel Woolf.

In Thicker Than Water, Evelyn has long since left the Doctor and is married to Rossiter (the story includes a flashback scene of when Evelyn says goodbye to the Doctor to stay with Rossiter).

The Doctor decides to visit his old friend, Evelyn. He is accompanied by Mel who meets Evelyn for the first time (even though this meeting was already done in the Sixth Doctor novel Instruments of Darkness written by then Big Finish producer Gary Russell; who says you have only have one chance for a good first impression).

So far I have listened to the first two episodes. Quite enjoyable. It certainly well played out Evelyn's conflict with her stepdaughter Sofia as well as scenes of just Evelyn and Mel together without the Doctor.

The second episode ends with a very stunning cliffhanger.

Part 3:
The intrigue continues smoothly here with a shocking revelation at the end of the true nature of Evelyn's health.

Part 4:
Not a bad resolution to the story however the demise of the villain does not feel satisfying.
What a surprise on who visits Evelyn in the hospital towards the end.
