• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

    Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

This is not mandatory... I will be willing to pay up to 15 USD per request if necessary (via paypal). High poly counts is preferred, but low poly is acceptable too.

REQUEST #1:

K'Vort'Cha Class (Schematic Attached)
Details:
This is a bird of prey vessel that was featured in Star Trek Dominion wars. In Dominion wars I found the model to be low end. I want this to be rebuilt and then taken up a new level to make it look like how the Klingons really would do it. The wing pattern to the disruptor cannon mount.

REQUEST #2:
Soulwolf Class Revamp
Details:
I would like the Soulwolf class to be given a whole entire make over. Revamped Nacelles, re-detailed saucer, deflector do over (I think a dauntless inspired deflector would fit my taste best). And anything else that you can upgrade to make it worth the w007.

REQUEST #3:
TLE Era Dreadnought
Details:
I need something that would perfectly fill the role of a TLE Era. I am not picky in design just that I want something that does not lean so much on pre-existing TLE designs like the Ambassador Class and others.

1. I think there is a K'Vort'Cha on BCfiles or SFCfiles or something like that. It's very nice and detailed. Not too high poly, but perfect for those games. It could be ported to Armada II.

2. I played around with the Soulwolf textures a bit. Added glows to the narcelles, some recolor etc. Frankly, I just can't imagine it with Dauntless "deflector". Why is everyone is so fond of that ship anyway? It's not even a Federation design...

3. Although it's very similar to the Ambassador, I would offer the Himalaya Class for you. It can be distinguished easily from the Ambassador and it was directly built for combat: To fight in the Cardassian War. I made one for Armada II, if you want it.

I could take a crack at the soulwolf's textures if you wanted, but you would have to get explicit permission from its author first. Not going through another Excalibur case again.:rolleyes:

For the ambassador type, you should look at the ff potd. The ships there might be what you are looking for.

1] If you can give me a general idea exactly where it is maybe I can give an opinion.

2] I am asking for a full remodel... not just a retexutre. And yes I am fond of it because unlike most deflectors it conforms to the hull instead of denting into it.

Never really looked at the Soulwolf until this thread. Terradhyne did an okay job importing her, I guess. Went and looked at the BC ship he imported. And then I saw whom did the Soulwolf. Atolm. Should have guessed from the start. It has his style elements all over it.

Went back and looked at the texture imports terradhyne did and looked at the poly count for the A2 SOD. Storm3D shows a triangle count of about 3200. Making her higher poly would only do small things like make the phaser strips and other external hull fittings stand out a little more. Not really all that visible except in close up glamour shots. Low poly models with high quality textures can accomplish the same effects without taxing the game engine too badly, I think.

So I looked at the original textures and how terradhyne transferred them over to A2. I made a complete new set based on the originals. I then gave the whole thing the Akira Treatment. After removing the Starfleet markings, which were not all that good, I bump mapped the texture. Never been a big fan of GodShips with lots of weapons, but as I worked on her this morning, she kinda grew on me. Added in A2PP vX, a build button, wireframe, some new weapons I've been working up and adjusted the ODF. The end result did not turn out too badly at all.

if you want this one, USS_Excalibur, I'll be glad to release this publicly here at MSFC as soon as you secure permission from Atolm for me to do so. I used his original textures as the basis for the skin. Everything else is by me. You'll also need terradhyne's Soulwolf mod for the SOD. Not my model.

Nice re-work of the ship Thunder. :)

@USS Excalibur, Jet as far as I am aware has only done the graphic work, revamping and creating textures. He is a quality 2D artist not a 3D one unless he has ventured into 3D without telling me. :lol2:

A majority of The Lost Era designs really emcompass ships that were featured in First Contact and Best of Both Worlds...namely the Steamrunner and Saber to start..as well as the New Orleans..Challenger, Freedom...those sorts of ships.. The New Orleans is Galaxy based...but actually came before the Galaxy as did the Challenger..the Freedom is sorta Ambass/Galaxy kitbash...a lot of the Wolf 359 ships were TLE ships....so most def look there.. General noncanonical history is that the Steamrunner Saber and Norway class ships were developed during the 2340s as part of a Starfleet program of modernization.. they were intended to sort of replace the Miranda and Constellation class starships....of course we saw Mirandas all the way up through DS9 but those and the Excelsiors were already built ships from the late 23rd to mid 24th century, not new builds.... The only really NEW ships that came out between 2363(year Enterprise-D was commissioned) and 2377/2378 (Last season of Voyager) were the Galaxy Class, Akira, Defiant, Intrepid, Prometheus, and of course the Sovereign. LOL I know I'm waaaaaaaaay off topic here..but definitely check out AadMoermans Wolf 359 ship pack. Those are good quality designs that can fill many of the voids of a TLE mod...

Did not realize you truly are unaware of just how complex making any ship model in MS3D or 3DS Max is. :lol2: Jetfreak has done very few models. Like myself, he has done quite a few retextures. The only thing I asked you for was for you to secure permission from Atolm so this texture set could be released publicly here at MSFC. Was even going to share credit with you on the mod since it was your desire which led me to do this in the first place.

Hmmm. Only took about four hours to get the skin to look like this. Took about another hour and a half to locate the HP locations and then revamp the ODF. So the phasers were not coming off the front of the nacelles and out of the shuttle bay. So the engines did not get taken out in the first volley and the crew did not die after one torpedo hit. Offered it to you publicly, gratis, because I was trying to help out. Because you expressed an interest in the ship. Because it does not take a whole new model to make this one look better than it already does. After all we are speaking of something done by Atolm. Maybe you are unaware of the amount and quality of his work?

I was trying to help. I don't do this sort of thing every day any more. I must say I am totally blown away by your lack of enthusiasm and gratitude. 'Preciate it, Big Guy. See ya! And good luck with all that, too!

TF, buddy, I don't think he meant to ignore you...he might not even have read all of your post..lets give him a chance to respond and see what he says...Ima play devils advocate on this one...normally im the first to jump on someone..but ive been in a good mood modding wise the last few days...soOoOo lets give him a chance okie??:thumbsup:

Yeah, I think that maybe he was trying to say that he liked your skin but he was looking for a model edit too. I offered my help and he turned it down(texture wise) because he wanted a mesh edit. I wouldn't take it too personally TF.:sweat:

Well..... I can honestly say that there are two walls that we hit. First off... Terra rarely gives permission. And I of course lost his contact info. But I can see what I can do.

Along the lines of Atolm, I have emailed him a few times and I never was replied. Idk if he just fell off the radar or just completely stopped bothering with modding.

Its not that I don't appreciate it. Its just that there is two walls, and both are just as tough to bypass as drilling a steel door open with a screwdriver.

But like Zaxx said, I was hoping for a model edit as well. Not just a reskin.

Have you tried contacting Atolm on Sci-Fi Meshes or the Demon Renegade Studios forums? Those are the two places he still visits often and where I have contacted him on others behave before.

Some of the BC ships can reach a poly count of well over 10,000. No matter how talented a modeler is it is inevitable details will be lost. Terradhyne managed to keep most of the model details intact. This can sometimes be more challenging than building a new mesh from scratch.

I thought with a simple retexture, ODF edits and a BB, wireframe and some better phasers and torps I have laying around gathering dust, I could help out and give you a slightly better version of the ship. She really is very good as she is, you know. You wanted Soulwolf and I had the ability and time to try to answer your request with unexpected help. I am quite pleased with the entire rework.

I thought since I'd done all the work already, it would be a nice gesture to credit you for the mod, if you got the required permission from Atolm to mod his textures. I've been doing things this way for a long time, because it encourages others to try modding when they probably would not ever release anything publicly on their own. This Community needs new modders. This would be a nice start to your career as one.

The bluntness of your response caught me off guard. In effect your post said to me, "Thanks TF, but your work isn't quite good enough for me." Not what you intended I hope.

I appologize.... as I often find my blunt nature to be my worst side of me. I'll try seeing if I get lucky enough to get permission from them. I am unsure what Atolm's policy is with modding of his textures, so I am just curious that if he were to deny use of his textures, what would it take to make up a texture set from scratch? (Or, from nearly nothing)

I'll search for and send an email to the both of them.

Atolm is a really nice guy, I've gotten permission from him more than once to use his stuff (a lot of the ships and the textures for my Vulcan Full Race mod were his work for SFC).

You seem to making things difficult for yourself despite the number of people offering to help you with this.

I don't plan to keep posting in this thread, since as a matter of course I avoid threads with disputes, aguments and community politicking (not that all those apply to this specific thread). I just want to recommed you contact Atolm via the Dynaverse Forum (simple to find with a quick Google search if the admins don't want a link posted), since that's where I go to get in touch with him.

Good news! You recieved permission from Terradhyne for the mesh release as well? Unexpected. I had only planned on a retexture. If the model can be included as well, then great! I have a few other things I need to do and I should have something for you to look at by next Friday at the very latest. It is all done, no worries. But I want to see if I can give it some laignappe. This ship has been available for a very long time. I think a re issue show have a WOW! factor to get people enthused about her all over again.
