• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

We have a policy of fairness and a non harassment environment, with the staff quick to act on the rare occasion of when this policy is breached. Feel free to register and join our community.

I have found it hard to continue on with the Cardassian's I think I am all Cardassianed-out.

Currently I have all the stations complete and in-game and nearly all the ships bar the battleships, Republic frigate and assault cruiser in-game as well.

I have done a very rough balance of the weapons and units, nothing substantial by any means and using the work balance is also a bit of a stretch. I have done the station build-buttons, and a couple of wireframes that I am not overly happy with. No admiral-log pics nor wirefames or build-buttons for the ships. Basically the mod needs a good wax and polish, something I can't see myself doing for a couple of months.

Now the question of the hour is this, would you rather wait a bit for a beta/more completed version, or have COE released as it in it's in-complete state? If the former please understand I'll complete it when I get my drive back for it, if the latter while it is playable, there is no AI and much is missing for it. Basically it's an unpolished in-complete version.

I am curious to see what you, the members whom have been following this are interested in or if anyone wants to give me a hand in polishing it up, especially in the ship balancing and AI area.

I recon you just need a break from it. In a couple of months you may be hungry again to finish it. Look at me with the Hirogen, I was about at the same point as you, then got bored and left it for months. Then came back with a renewed enthusiasm and knocked it out in a few days.
If you still feel un-enthused in a couple of months or so, you can still release what you have then.

If you need any help with AIs or balancing or some other stuff, I can help you out. I am taking a break from Wastelands ATM, so I would have the time to help. :)

Thank you both for your responses.

Terra, I'll see about sending you the most up-to-date copy of the mod sometime in the next couple of days. Thanks for the help, I do appreciate it. :)

I'd suggest releasing a demo of sorts for feedback, as usually its the feedback that motivates us to continue things. I find that if my stuff isn't shared to some degree I lose motivation. Also feedback from such things helps to find out what works and what doesn't so that things can be improved, added on to, etc.

Take a break:thumbsup:

My thoughts too.

I am considering releasing a beta of it, when a little more is done and see how that goes. I will hold off on that till I see what Terra can do with it.
