Black Knight Satellite

Over the past few days I have been browsing through facebook at various groups and sci-fi related pages because I was bored, which over the last several days has become rather common since I finished the painting I was working on for my mum, anyways, I came across a page with posts about the Black Knight Satellite orbiting earth.

Seems this mysterious satellite might have been orbiting since the late 1800's, well at least as far as we know since this is the first reported incedent about it is recorded. It is claimed that a man named Tesla heard an electrical signal coming from space several times in 1899, and in 1960 a North American System Listening Station picked up a radar echo. They had detected an unknown satellite in orbit and this satellite was in a polar orbit, though at this time no known American or Russian satellite was capable of a polar orbit. There have been recordings, photographs of this satellite but no serious investigation it seems, at least not made known to the general public. In some of the photo's available online the satellite appears more of a possible space ship than a satellite.

One scientist claims he has decoded the message hidden within the transmissions occassionally coming from the Black Knight satellite, apparently it is telling us that the satellite has come from the Epsilon Bootes start system some 13,000 years ago.

The message is as follows:
START HERE.
OUR HOME IS EPSILON BOOTIS.
WHICH IS A DOUBLE STAR.
WE LIVE ON THE 6th PLANET OF 7 – CHECK THAT, 6th OF 7 -
COUNTING OUTWARDS FROM THE SUN
WHICH IS THE LARGER OF THE TWO.
OUR 6th PLANET HAS ONE MOON,
OUR 4th PLANET HAS THREE,
OUR FIRST AND THIRD PLANETS EACH HAVE ONE.
OUR PROBE IS IN THE ORBIT OF YOUR MOON
THIS UPDATES THE POSITION OF ARCTURUS SHOWN ON OUR MAPS.”

Sounds a little like the movie Contact, perhaps this is where they got the idea for the movie from?

What are everyone's thoughts on this satellite?

Thanks Kat for posting this.

I find this very interesting myself. It is also rumoured that it is like 13,000 years old and when spacecraft approach it the satellite moves away, it also moves faster than any other satellite in our orbit and in the opposite direction of our human made ones. It also doesn't have a regular orbit, not a common pattern to it's orbit's at least.

Oh and some images, there are a heap more on google.

My thoughts on this satellite are that whoever has sent this, I'll call them the watchers for a lack of a better term, have been slowly guiding us to a level both technological and socially for first contact. I think they have been watching us for many thousands of years slowly guiding us without our knowledge to a point where we can visit them and make first contact.

While this will never happen in our lifetimes useless those useless politicians pick their act up I would love to be able to meet them and find out more about them and their interest in us.

I love these fringe science stuff, I can't believe there is very little mention of the satellite elsewhere.

Hoax or not, every story has a hint of truth. I've always believed that there are higher and hopefully benevolent powers out there. Then again, Earth might seem like a mangy Zoo to them LOL.

I wouldn't want to visit earth in its current condition, I think our leaders should all band together instead of fighting and work towards a goal of spacial travel and exploration, would be more useful and beneficial to us all whether this black knight situation is true or not.

""Not this again"" <Puts US Air Force ball cap on > It's a thermal blanked

As to the Endeavor's STS-88 flight, and these startling photographs of a spacecraft. There are a lot of things wrong with this part of the story. First of all, the shuttle always flew in a semi-equatorial orbit, as does the International Space Station. An object passing in a polar orbit would have gone by at tens of thousands of kilometers per hour, far too fast to be visible, and certainly far too fast for so many high-quality photos to be taken.

During the Endeavor's STS-88 flight one of the astronauts' EVAs, a thermal blanket was lost and drifted away — silver on one side and black on the other. It was photographed extensively. It was crumpled and formed an odd shape. If you didn't know what to expect, the average person would have no clue what it was. But, unfortunately for the legend and fortunately for the astronauts, it simply wasn't an alien satellite.

Always hard to tell what the truth is in stories with Nikola Tesla. Sure, he was insane, but he was probably the greatest engineering mind of his time and some of the things he actually did still sound like science fiction.

Anyway, the story reminds me of the "Wow!" signal. It was a narrow band radio signal discovered in 1977 that looked very similar to our own communication signals. Due to the similarity, the scientist who found it, Jerry R. Ehman, tried to prove a Terrestrial origin first, but none of our own satellites were in that area and there was no debris for it to have bounced off of. It was also in a restricted portion of the spectrum reserved for scientific research and would have required a transmitter nearly one thousand times as powerful as our strongest. It may have been part of an odd radiation burst from a star or it may have been aliens; we have no way to tell.

I find this very interesting, but my inner skeptic can't help rearing it's head. I do believe in life on other planets. Now beyond that I can't say if it's a single cell organism, a worm, a dog-cat-pig-bird mix or a bi-pedal humanoid-like creature. I just refuse to believe we are alone among countless planets, solar systems and universes.

Beyond that a human decoded an alien signal? I suppose not outside the realm of possibility however, any language spoken 13,000 years ago would have been vastly different than today so how did he neatly translate it to today's language? We can't even decode human languages used a few thousand years ago. How would an alien species know what our language would be 13,000 years later in order to tell us how to find them? Just like our recording/golden record sent into space back in the 60's. How would an alien species be able to "decode" our language?

And similar to what Katala said, who would want to study us unless they want to know how a species can ruin a planet and destroy themselves as fast as possible?

The idea of this sort of reminds me of the STTNG episode The Inner Light.:)

Whether it is based on fact or fiction, its a good read and fun to speculate over
