This is a spin off from the thread about Caedus' fate about who makes the better Sith Lord.

I originally asked specifically about Vader, Caedus or Sidious/Palpatine, but a couple of other responses were added - if thats your choice, please add a comment saying who and why :)

And then added Revan, frankly because I'd forgotten him when i originally thought about it :lol2:

Poll is open for 30 days, let the voting commence!

How dare you miss Darth Bane !!!!

How could you forget Darth Bane ?, the farther of the "there can be only two" way for the Sith (ie a master and aprentice), and he is the Sith with the most Jedi kills under his belt he wiped out 80% of the order (see "Vally of the Jedi")..

I'm going to have to say Revan.

Able to either conquer or save the galaxy at a whim (or both with a very handy save game  )

Not to mention that he lost his/her memories and then either became worse/better and ultimately conquered/saved.

These open games make life quite difficult don't they? He might never have been a sith at all in some strange, glitchy developer version.

I haven't read the Darth Bane book. therefore i know nothing about him other than he started the rule of two. thats how i could forget him.

In terms of canon, it has been that Revan is male and a light side Jedi after KOTOR before his disappearance.
Similarly, the exile from KOTOR II is female and a light sider by canon.
Jaden Korr (from Jedi Academy) is also a lightsider in canon. i forget whether it was male or female. but he/she was human canonically.

they arent much for making Sith endings canon are they  ?

You forgot to add Darth Maul (Ep1) to the list along with Count Dooku/Darth Tyranus (sp?).

Get in touch with me if you want any more candidates added to the list.

Darth Nihilus : Intergalactic Man of Mystery

Ever since KOTOR II : The Sith Lords , I have been intrigued by Darth Nihilus. Even though his Dialogue was a mismatched gibberish of growls and utterances , he was possessed of an aura of mystery and had the ineffible feeling of dread that cloaked him like a shadow. I mean , Nihilus could drain the life from a world just by approaching it (if I remember Visas Marr's & Kreia's dialogue correctly). And , seriously , he had a Star Destroyer that by all rights and reasons , SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN MOBILE - let alone a threat to the "great" Republic Navy and a Zombie Crew to boot.
Granted , he was the first Sith Lord to fall before the Exile's Lightsaber , but out of the three Sith Lords you fought , Nihilus seemed to be the least "cookie cutter" Sith Lord of the three.
It's almost like his character was deliberately left unexplained to promote speculation. (Either that or LucasArts had a brain fart and wrote themselves into a corner with him.)

I even wrote a fanfiction about Nihilus finding his way back from the "Nether Regions of the Force" as Yoda put it , to wreak havoc on the New Republic. Sith 1 , Republic 0. BWAHA!

Plus , he was a snappy dresser. (Still wish they'd have let my character "Darth Cursion" equip Nihilus' mask!!)

Now , I'm off to lead my Regiment into battle against the hated House Davion and secure the Inner Sphere for the Glorious Capellan Confederation.

Have a case of Timbiqui Dark waiting for me when we return.

    Honor and Xin Sheng.

    Many thanks :)

So people know why I didnt ask Majestic to add Bane or Nihilus as well, its because people have already voted other, and specified them as the reason, as well as my earlier reason, i'm not all that familiar with Darth Bane, and certainly, Maul and Dooku are far better known :)

    there is no beating Vader.

sinister, mysterioous and practically oozing menace with every rasped breath,
a deep tragic story and one that makes romeo and juliet into a childrens story...

pilot/ warrior/ mystic and tyrant... with an entrance onto our screens that has rarely been surpassed.

I'm not sure who Darth Reven or Darth Cadeus are, so I looked through the others and decided that Darth Vader is the prime Sith Lord. As far as the amount of damage that a Sith Lord has done, obviously Palpatine did the most damage (some directly, some indirectly). The ultimate Sith Lord is one of the powers (users of the Force) who have basically lived through the worst of tragedies. I don't imagine Anakin's conversion to the Dark Side to have been one that was as quick as the movies show it to be (and in movies you have those large spaces of time in between the movies, as well as the space of time between the scenes - basically people are doing everyday things in between the scenes). Anakin's conversion to the dark side involved a lot of events as well as the fact that many other people in some way (knowingly or unknowingly) contributed to it.

Darth Vader is someone who went from a person adamantly against the Dark Side to someone who questioned his beliefs because of what happened to him and became what he used to fight. Many Sith Lords began their lives being trained in the dark powers. Some however didn't - Count Dooku began as a Jedi and so did Anakin. I'm not sure of Palpatine's history - but he strikes me as someone who never had an ounce of good in him. With Palpatine, he's too sly and secretive to have ever been a good guy. With Darth Vader, you see a heck of a lot of anger being purged over and over again, and that anger is constantly replaced everytime something goes wrong (which it inevitably did). In that anger, you can sort of begin to see that beyond the mask (which many of us wear from time to time) there is a person who is in more pain than you can imagine. Throughout the entire ordeal (I think he was a Sith Lord for over 20 years before he was 'born again' and then subsequently died), Darth Vader was in conflict, but he hid it well. He used his immense anger to hide his pain, which is what many people do after they try to be / become something they aren't. His wife Padme even said "there's still good in him" which is basically foreshadowing what we all know happens 20 years later.

Anakin as Darth Vader was afraid of himself, and in conflict. To hide that, he enshrouded himself with anger and destructive thoughts. He wanted to show no fear, so that he could indeed satisfy his own personal demons - that which wants him to rule the entire galaxy. And you can't rule the entire galaxy if you have even an ounce of fear can you? Imagine the ruler of the galaxy saying "I'm scared of something". That's why absolute power corrupts absolutely, and it's why Darth Vader is really what the Sith are all about. The Sith are about taking a genuinely good person and turning him/her/it into an agent of evil and that's why Darth Vader is the ultimate Sith, at least to me. Anakin pretty much reminds me of myself in just about every way, except without the ability to use the force.

Plus he's the first Sith anyone's ever seen in the movies and I guess that plays a significant part as well. :lol2:

If I remember right that was Darth Plagus the wise. Not sure on the spelling but that is how he was refered to in the story Anakin was told.

Vader is the first to be known. Thus everyone that came after him was a copy. While they are all still evil. The original is almost always the best example. I did like Darth Maul. Or was it his dual lightsaber? who knows.

you are correct, its was indeed Darth Plagueis the Wise.

And technically, Vader is just the first Sith seen by the audience. Chronologically speaking, Vader is among the last of the "true" Sith. certainly the last applied to by the "rule of two" - in my opinion anyway, since there have been other Sith since Vader's death.

What made me choose Revan over Vader was SW Episode 3. At the end of the movie were he gets the armour and sooks over Padme is what ruins it for me.

It seems at this time Revan has one up on Vader in the polls.

Agreed. that whole moment was ridiculous and just completely un-Vader-like.

George Lucas obviously went to the "how to destroy a villain in less than 10 seconds" class.

While Anakin may have been more powerful than Revan, I dont believe Vader was (according to the books, Vader was less powerful than Anakin due to the loss of his limbs which apparently lowered his ability to use the force. seems kinda lame, but ok, i can accept that.

Revan on the other hand, had the galaxy balanced in the palm of his hand, metaphorically speaking. he had the jedi and the republic on the run before Malak betrayed him (canonically, Revan was male). Which is why Revan got my vote. Plus look how many Jedi accompanied him into the Mandalorian wars when the council forbid it, and how many stayed with him after, just because of his charisma, not because of his force strength.

We still have a few days to go on this one, and it currently looks like a tie between Vader and Revan.

Lets have some more votes people!!

    And we have a tie!

Revan and Vader are arguably the best sith lords and it seems we cant decide between them.

If your using the extended universe then Darth Bane has to be up there. He created and implemented the rule of two.
