Over at Armada2Files there is a mod tournament that is going to be held in a few weeks.
As you have read it is going to be played on the Babylon 5 Armada 2 mod. There has been talk about a specially made mod for later games but I think Freyr has decided not to go ahead with that at the current time.
Back at the topic at hand, is anyone here planning on joining in? I am in and will be playing but is there anyone else interested in this?

Freyr said:A couple of weeks ago the staff were talking about running a team tourney. I decided to hang fire on announcing anything whilst the whole importer debate was going on as I didn't want this to get overshadowed by it. I think I can safely say that the debate is dead and buried now.
Anyway, SSA and Jolt had originally planned on playing it on 1.1 but I pointed out that it would be totally unfair as it would simply create a big pile of bodies around the Staff as I am rather good at 1.1 multi.
My suggestion was that we play with mods online. This not so much levels the playing field as flattens it, as I seriously doubt that anyone has done real online games on mods before so everybody should be on the same footing.
We then had a bit of discussion about which mods to play with as some (eg. SWFC) are disliked by a vocal minority. In my opinion vocal minorities get their way far to often, and while I am sure they would moan like mad I seriously doubt that any of them would actually play anyway.
Therefore, the question to everybody is which mods would you like to play and would you like to join in?
Your opinion only counts if you want to play, otherwise I don't want to know. The mod can be any that is publicly released and available for download. The mods with the most interest will get played, and we may play on several mods in the course of the tourney.
If your part of a modding team or you have a couple of friends interested in taking part then you can enter as a team for this (teams of 2 or 3) where as if your not and you don't know anybody then just post here and we will get youa partner.
I am aware of the issues caused by timezones and while we haven't picked dates games will be on weekends at a time that anybody can play at. (as in it won't be starting at 0100H in any timezone)
Well, to get the ball rolling. The Armada2Files Staff are taking part as a team.
Due to popular demand the first match will be played on B5A2. Having downloaded it and had a look myself I know its a huge mod and if somebody would be willing to write a couple of words on which ships are good at what it would be appreciated as not everybody has watched B5
The tourney will be on August the 19th at 2100H GMT, which appears to be the best time for everybody.
After a great deal of consideration I have decided that putting everybody in teams would be unfair. I feel that doing this could end up with one team winning before the game started.
What we shall do instead is Free for All games for the first round, followed by a team game of whoever wins the FFA's.
For those that don't know, a Free for All (FFA) is where everybody is on their own. You have to kill everybody, and what tends to happen is that the weaker players make an alliance of convenience to kill the strongest player, followed by an all out war between everybody. I think this will be more fun than a 2v2, because they can be decided in minutes, and sometimes you can lose just because of who you are teamed with which can be quite frustrating.
