• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

Just read this months PC Gamer magazine (issue 190) and i read about this game called Air Rivals (AR), its an mmo which appears to have a bit of a twist, rather than following an elf, or whatever, you fly planes and generally revolves around PVP (player versus player) action, set as dog fights in the air, between 2 factions trhat are at war.

Rather than games like World of Warcraft, where you click on the enemy and press a selection of buttons for attacks, the combat system in AR gives your proper control over the aircraft as you pilot it and fire the weapons. (I assume its like LEgacy for those who have played)

the main draw back seems to be that you will die a lot, espescially whilst leveling.

a plus side is that there is no monthly subscription. however, you can buy ingame credits and subscribe to gain access to special weapons and decals for your air craft.

while the reviewer in the magazine seemed to almost love it (aside from the death factor) he only gave it a score of 70%

So, just wondering if there is anyone out there who has played it, or knows more who can tell me what they think of it, before i go shelling out for a game i may not like.

thanks

ive been playing this game for a while now and it is quite good. although it would be better if i had people to play with, it is a heavy pvp game, and the only way to level is to grind... and grind hard!

I really do rate this game tho, Its completely free, however you can opt to buy credits, which you cna then trade to gain unique items or memberships.

Memberships basically give you a shared bank between your characters, extra space, and a special item that increases you money earning, item finding and exp gain by 30% for 5 hours, which helps with the grinding a bit.

Basically the game is an MMO using futuristic fighter planes and the like, to wage war between 2 sides, you can fight in real world battles or go into arenas, i havent been in arena's yet, but i have heard about it, and apparently it is on a rather epic scale!

I look forward to it getting there heh.
