• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

We have a policy of fairness and a non harassment environment, with the staff quick to act on the rare occasion of when this policy is breached. Feel free to register and join our community.

Tools used -

3ds Max 8 - modelling, UVWing and rendering
Adobe Phtoshop CS3 Extended - texture creation
Milkshape 3d - Hardpointing and SOD conversion

Special Thanks/Mention -

All of the people who have ever made a mod, even if its not been released. You are all my
inspiration

Assimsoft for the plugins. Couldn't put this model in game.

Achilles, FoaS, and Fireball for their excellent teturing tutorials. Guess what guys; they work!

Starfox, for posting FoaS' video tutorials on MSFC. Wouldn't be able to do panels properly without that.

The original B5A2 team (Rivendell Studios I believe they went by). Groundbreaking at the time, and even today
is one of the few true total conversions that made it through the development process

-- Introduction--
**************************************************************************

THERE IS NO ODF INCLUDED IN THIS PACKAGE

This is a result of one of my many modelling phases, sparked off by seeing a copy of season one in my local Blockbuster.
I'm biased, but I think it looks a little better than the one in the original B5A2 mod; mainly due to lightmaps and a higher
res texture map. Please do not feel obligated to agree with me though, you can use whatever one you want :).

Inside, you should find:

1 .ms3d format model file (Artemis.ms3d) of this ship, saed just prior to final export as .sod.

1 .sod format model file (Artemis.sod) for ingame usage.

2 .tga format texture files
- (Art1.tga) of 1024 x 1024 resolution with alpha channel.
- (Art2.tga) of 1024 x 1024 resolution with alpha channel.

1 .png format picture:
- (ArtemisOrtho.png) consisting of a 2048 x 4096 resolution set of renders from all sides.

1 .txt format text files:
- (Readme.txt) which is this document.

-- Model Information--
**************************************************************************

This model and texture was created by me (save for the base panelling pattern, which was included in Achilles'
texture tutorial) for usage in Armada 2. As such, it is under 1000 polygons and poorly optimized for other engines
Anyone wishing to convert this shoud be aware of this before trying.

This model started as a single box, and was then worked on with inset, extrude, cut, connect, slice and bevel tools.

-- Installation Instructions--
**************************************************************************

To install this, you will need to create your own odf - this is actually very simple, though
if you have no idea how then posting on the forum will earn some first class help in very short
time.

If you are using B5A2, then copy the SOD and textures into their respective folders (TIP: It
should ask you if you want to overwrite. Click yes), and then place the odf in the 'ships'
folder within the 'ODF' directory. Now you're done, and have a nice new Artemis instead of one
that is showing its age slightly.

**************************************************************************
-- A note about the odfs--
**************************************************************************

I've not included an odf for the simple reason that they are difficult to balance, and I
cannot anticipate how you have modded your install. However, inside of the B5A2 folder you
will find the odf from that mod that I have edited with this models hardpoints. This can
serve as a base for your odfs, if you so desire.

If this is the first thing you have downloaded, then there are many people who will be able
to assist if you post on the MSFC forums.

-- A Request--
**************************************************************************

Have fun with this, its what I made it for. Oh, and if anyone wants to tinker with it
then feel free - its the way I learned

**************************************************************************
-- Permission--
**************************************************************************

I hereby grant permission for anyone to modify the included models and textures and release
them. I know what they look like though - so if you try and pass 'em off as your own there'll
be trouble!

In all seriousness, feel free to use any and all parts of this mod for any purpose with the
exception of porting. I would request an e-mail about this for the simple reason that I could
provide the base mesh that will sure expediate things.

Should you wish to release an edited version of this, then it MUST be uploaded to MSFC. I have
no issue with it being uploaded to A2files, or as an attachment on Fleetops.net, as long as it
is also available on MSFC.

A PM on the MSFC forums is probably best.

E-mail is a bit problematic for me as I sometimes don't receive them, but it is here just in
case...
