New Excelsior is done and is approx 6,000 Poly's. The nacelles are 1050 each which adds a lot to the final count. Considering this is a Battleship and one that isn't built in huge numbers I am just going to live with the high poly count.

Excelsior_WIP01.png Excelsior_WIP02.png Excelsior_WIP03.png Excelsior_WIP04.png

Now to do a Enterprise-B version, thankfully I can use parts from this to alter and make the E-B version.

UPDATE

I have also done a re-designed Centaur class, not too sure about the neck atm, but the rest I like. Included in the redesign is the removal of the saucer shuttle bay that was tacked on, and it's been redesigned and placed at the back of the vessel. The engines have been removed and Enterprise-B type engines added. I also rescaled the torpedo launcher to a more appropriate size. I also changed the saucer rather than having it an excelsior one it's been changed on the top a bit to represent a smaller saucer.

"Aye, and if my grandmother had wheels she'd be a wagon." :D

That is one fine looking Excelsior sir, and I like the personal touches to the Centaur too.

"Come, come, Mr. Scott. Young minds, fresh ideas. Be tolerant!" :lol2:

A fantastic quote, something many fans who bag out Abrams Trek should follow.

Thanks Jetfreak, I am going to get back to texturing now me thinks. As much as I can before Christmas hits. Hopefully I can finish the Conny before the 25th. :D

I haven't had a lot of time recently to do much on my texturing. but today I have gotten a little done, included is a new impulse dome texture, deflector and I played with the pearly white that Jetfreak mentioned.

Well my last update for a while I think, Christmas Eve here. The Constitution is about 80% complete texture wise.

I've managed to do some early work on the engineering hull, done the phasers, finished up the impulse deck, pylons are complete and started early work on the saucer rim. A lot of the work now is more minor such as windows, docking ports and the such.

Texture_WIP_02a.png Texture_WIP_02b.png Texture_WIP_02c.png

And here is the final model and texture, complete and ready for conversion.

Thank you all, I decided to go my own way with the deflector and windows on the saucer rim. I think of it as a Batch II Conny Refit, circa 2295. Perhaps it uses some of the advanced technology from the Excelsior class in the interior and on the deflector. Who knows. I don't and I made the thing.

I'll be doing the Constellation next, I should have some progress images in a few days after the Christmas season is over. I mapped the Constellation last night before I went to bed. Going to see if I can squeeze the Constellation into the Conny texture, if not I'll find another ship to squeeze on the Conny texture at a later date.

Hello:
Your models look amazing, i saw the Constitution in da when lurking around, hehehe.

All these models are very well made and rounded, I suppose they are all made with more polies? maybe to be for FleetOps if that is the case?.

Keep it up!

Yes they are made for FO the Constitution for example is in the early 4000's. They will not be for stock A2 as they will be too high poly to use for anything other than picture taking.

Hello:
Thanks for the answer. It is indeed a bit high in polygons, but i suppose that ship deserves it, hehehe  . But I am amazed on the progress the FleetOps people have done by updating the game's engine, if their Bored Cubes are in 10000+ polies and there are fleets of those ships.

Keep it up!

Those Borg cubes in FO do lag when they blow, at least for me.

Well here is a new ship. The Constellation class Star Cruiser was introduced in the 2280's as a viable replacement to the Constitution, which the early models were reaching 40 years old. The Constellation class was a ambitious undertaking, designed to be larger and more capable the Constellation was to pioneer the Federation's next generation of explorers. However problems with the quad nacelle design and higher production costs meant that the Constellation would never fully supplant the Constitution class with other designs eventually fulfilling that role.

Constellation_01.png Constellation_02.png Constellation_03.png Constellation_04.png

This model shares the same texture as the Constitution, the images above don't have the aztec on the saucer rounded yet, I forgot that and will do that later. Next up will probably be the destroyers. This next only took me about 8 hours, which beats the Constitution.

Very nice direction you've taken boss, I see you've removed the unnecessary sensor pallets and domes that ruin the design's sleekness! :)

I never liked all that junk on the bottom of the Constellation. As you say it ruins the design's sleekness. And since this is Yesteryears and I'm known for doing things my own way I thought it couldn't hurt. I think it looks better however there are more canon versions of this ship floating around if others don't agree with me. So it's all good.

EDIT:

Just because, because I can and for some giggles. :lol2:

Thank you all, glad to see you're liking the new models and textures.

Here is the first of the Destroyers, the Abbe a Tactical destroyer. It has a dedicated torpedo pod with 8 torpedo tubes.

Abbe1.png Abbe2.png Abbe3.png Abbe4.png

Note: I haven't added the phaser turrets to the texture yet.

I like it! Same basic layout as the Akira but a unique design, not a ripoff like the NX.

Thanks Cabal. :)

Here is the AWACS version the the Abbe. I look at the Abbe more as a predecessor or inspiration design to the Nebula rather than the Akira.

Another of my destroyers, the Detroyat class.

This is an older design and one of the few designs to be refitted in the early 2270's. It was also one of the few designs refitted in time to fight off the Kzinti invasion of 2273. She preformed well in the conflict as one of the main fighting ships. However as of 2295, she is outdated and one of the earliest ships available to the player. She is scheduled for decommissioning with many being doing light boarder patrols and freighter escort duty for a number of years.

Hmm. I'll admit I was never a big fan of the Détroyat, but this one actually looks good. I like it.

Yesteryears 2013

Well a new year and a new thread, the previous thread can be seen here: Yesteryears 2012

Thanks all, she is basically on par with the FO Sabre class, a small weak early ship. Some players I doubt will build any of her. She is considered ancient and fully ready for decommissioning, in fact several already have been. But galactic events postpone her decommissioning like the Constitution class.

Here is one of the mainline destroyers, sister design to the Abbe. The Akula is a more rounded general purpose destroyer.

Akula1.png Akula2.png Akula3.png Akula4.png

She was in fact based off the earlier Saladin class destroyer which never went through a refit and instead was slowly moved into the reserve fleet.

This texture was in fact done before the Detroyat and shares the same texture as the Detroyat and Abbe. That's all the ships I've done in 2012. Onto 2013 now.

Hello:
I like your version of the Akula much more than the original design we have seen, for some reason I feel the pylon-like sections are offering more usefulness to the overall design as we can now see how it can liberate some room for some systems in the crowded saucer section.

Keep it up!

Thank you Chiletrek. I redesigned the Akula a little like I did with the Abbe. A ship needs a shuttle bay even a small one, especially in this day and age where the treaty with the Empire is still young.

Last night I also finished another ship, I am thankfully nailing them down atm. :)

The scout has arrived. The second model of 2013, the first was the Akyazi.

Oberth_01.png Oberth_02.png Oberth_03.png

No windows, I hate the Oberth saucer, it's a pain in the butt and I need to fix the aztec on the saucer.

EDIT: Updated the textures:

Cool, that's one of the cleanest Oberths I've seen for A2, goes to show even the tiniest of ships can get some pretty nifty details. :)
