As pretty as they are, I personally could give a fig about a poly count. Majestic is well known throughout the Community for using polys like they are strictly rationed and I want these ships as soon as I can get them.

I ment meters. If Excellsior is your biggest your can probable spend about 3k to 3.5k on Mirandas as there will be more of them. If you have bigger ships like Yamato you get 4k to 4.5 because there wonr be as many as the fleet is spread over more classes. Oh course that doesn't mean you have to use all those polies if you don't need too. Just that you have them if you want them:cool:

Poly's are rationed aren't they? :confused::lol2:

Thanks, it's nice to see you like my work. I haven't released much recently due to thinking that mine isn't all that good when compared to others nowadays.

For the Federation, the Excelsior is the Battleship and Ulysses is the Dreadnaught, the Gorn however do have a larger in size battleship. YY is to focus more on cruisers and destroyers, a lot like Fleet Ops has and in fact was a founding principle behind the mod, one that has not be abandoned. ;)

Probably want to cap out about 3.5k then. That a good size for mass builds on moderen PCs. I always marvel how much better modern ram is then the older stuff. Did you know 1G of new DDR3 is the equal of 3G of the old DDR Ram. That also means that a new 128 meg card is as good or better then an old 512 card. Add to that that FO lets you use 3G of ram instead of 2G for stock (neither setup cares weather its DDR, DDR2, or DDR3). With the average rendering power of a new PC you should be able to handle 200+ 3.5k ship equivalents:thumbsup:

Not exactly 'rationed' -- more like subject to austerity measures, especially in the wake of the revolutions in Polygypt, Polybia, and Polyria, to say nothing of the ongoing struggles in Polyraq and Polyran. These events, what the media are calling the "Polygon Uprising", are hitting poly counts worldwide with an unprecedented shortage, and forcing modders to make do with what they have. If the polynomic instability continues, modders may be forced to simply use flat 2D placeholders and remain in the top-down view mode indefinitely.....

:lol2:

Well here are the updated excelsior models that just need a bridge and sensor dome added to be completed modelling wise.

Jet I would like your imput on these, considering your recent work on getting some accurate Excelsiors out. :)

Nothing much more to add or criticize for that matter ;) Maj, you've really nailed all the needed requirements to get that certain Excelsior feel. Has the distinctive girth no doubt.

Yeah thats all I need to do apart from the textures.

Thanks, I was trying to get it as close as I could as I do agree many fan designs have too narrow hulls, probably because many modellers use someone elses model as a guide to making their own.

I have just finished re-making the Akula, It's a fair bit different to lower poly model we have been using. I am unsure if the mega-phaser attachments will remain in the final model.

She's a nice and compact interpretation man, and the prelim textures look well placed.

Got a tiny nitpick on the name spelling though, it's Villanueva and means "New Town" in English. :lol2:

Once I re-do the textures I can post some orthos. Yes all ships will have a shield grid like the ships seen on screen in the series.

She looks good to me mate. I'd definately keep the phaser sails, it'll make her stand out more. That version is really hard to find.
Only potential nitpick is the saucer looks quite thick around the edges in shot 2. But that might just be the angle, or the way my phone loaded the image

Or could be how I intended it. ;)

I felt that since it's such a small vessel, with no real hull like the Abbe and Okinawa have, that a thicker saucer was needed for interal room and such. However you know me, I may change my mind before I texture.

Well the original KA version of the model only had 2 decks there but I think theres room for adding a 3rd without messing up the look of the ship. Always kinda thought of the Akula like a bulldog anyway:D

Fair enough. I like the reasoning behind it, it makes sense :). The other option is thinner and wider, but that might be a tad vulnerable in battle. Thinner combat profile though so who knows how they'd decide lol. I like it :)

The Akula in Yesteryears is the base destroyer, all avatars have access to it. Each avatar has a unique destroyer and cruiser, with the destroyer being more powerful and expensive compared to the Akula.

I decided thicker was better than wider and it doesn't alter the shape much when looking from above which is the main view the player has.

Still loving that akula class. Never seen the Abbe before. Interesting design. Is that top section a shuttlebay?

Never heard of that one before, too. Both of those look awesome, can't wait to see them textured.

Will the Centaur be there as well? (You mentioned it two months ago, but your opinion may have changed...)

I am considering having the Soyuz as a limited vessel, basically it costs a bit to refit a Miranda to a Soyuz, costing resources to do, a lot more than to an Avenger or Saratoga type. After the research options have been researched, you'll no longer be able to just build the Miranda base, at least that's what I am thinking now, unless I can put some restriction of the refitting to Soyuz type. I need to look into the coding of FO more for that.

You can definitely put a cap on how many of a certain ship you will get. The Cap restrictions make it so that you can limit how many of certain ships you want...there maybe some that are cheap enough that you can build a lot of. You may want the gamer to be able to build 15 Akulas, 8 Constitutions, but only 3 Excelsiors, or whatever denomination you might want.

For my personal TNG Mod the gamer can only build 5 Galaxy class (Venture subtype), but the refit Galaxy (with the darkened hull sections) is available as a warp in vessel. so you could potentially get up to 10 Galaxy class ships...

Torpedo pod actually, it's a tactical destroyer, but can also be refitted with a AWAC pod as the leter Nebula class can. I an not sure if I will be introducing this variant initally. Might make it a warp in if I do.

Thanks Terra, I am building all the designs first then I will see about doing the textures. I haven't yet decided if I am going to go with the white or a darker greay hull colour yet.

As for the Centaur, I do plan to include it, at the very least it will be a warp in vessel. However it won't be the traditional Centaur, like many designs it will have my own personal touch to it.

Yeah that is what I am planning on doing, I did this for the Yorktown in my Enterpriose mod, I'll probably put a cap of like 10 or something on the ship.
