Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.
Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.
We have a policy of fairness and a non harassment environment, with the staff quick to act on the rare occasion of when this policy is breached. Feel free to register and join our community.
I don't think technobabble is supposed to make sense.I hate when I'm trying to write a Star Trek fan fic and get lost while trying to make the technobabble make sense.
I think they try to make it as scientifically accurate as possible. That being said, I'm having a hell of a time trying to figure out the whole being out of phase thing and how that works.I don't think technobabble is supposed to make sense.
Was it ever established in any canon source that the reason behind the movable nacelles was to combat subspace damage?I just had a thought. The TNG episode where they establish that high warp factors damage subspace mentions the USS Intrepid. Since VOY starts one year later, this must be the lead ship for the Intrepid-class, indicating that the Intrepid-class already existed. Voyager's variable geometry nacelle pylons were designed to combat the subspace issue. However, if the class existed before the issue was known about, that means that the USS Intrepid didn't have the variable geometry pylons. What did the original Intrepid-class design look like?
I was certain it was, but your comment made me look it up and the Memory Alpha page only gives maybes from non-canon sources. Was it ever established in any canon source that the reason behind the movable nacelles was to combat subspace damage?
That's what I thought. It's likely a fan-made explanation for a non-functional aspect of Voyager's design. If it was canon, you'd think other vessels introduced later on (Sovereign, Prometheus) would have incorporated movable nacelles.I was certain it was, but your comment made me look it up and the Memory Alpha page only gives maybes from non-canon sources.
I had assumed they just figured out a better solution with less moving parts, and by extension, fewer potential points of failure. That's what I thought. So a definite maybe?I don't believe it was a fan made reason. Mike and Denise Okuda talked about it and I think it was mentioned in a technical manual. I know they are all non canon but, far from fan made.
I went to Arkansas over the week for Spring Break. Snowed the first two nights we were there and we were freezing most of the week. Friday was the only day that got above 50 degrees F.Middle of March in Colorado and all the windows in the house open. What are you doing mother nature? Did you forget it's winter? I can only imagine how hot summer will be
And the fight lasted maybe...what, a second?Minor Spoilers:

I was a bit disappointed with the recent SW Rebels episode (Obi-Wan vs Maul). I guess it was hyped way too much but I can see why they went with that direction. There was some closure for both characters at least.
Yeah. It makes total sense in-universe, but I would have really liked one last big TCW style duel. And the fight lasted maybe...what, a second?
That's because it was a chocolate singularity and pulled everything else into it and turned it into chocolateI just ate chocolate cake so dense that I'm surprised there was nothing orbiting it.
I haven't been paying much attention. What happened? It's sad to see how much of a nose dive Memory Alpha has taken
Its small things here and there that seem to sacrifice accuracy for simplicity and laziness, imo.I haven't been paying much attention. What happened?
