Don't fear Excelsior the Akula is the Federation destroyer, one up from the frigate.

when this mod come out im sooo gonna make my self a wallpaper of some gorn frigates attacking a excelsior class and an akula class

Destroyer wise, has to be the Akula Refit, hands down. Is the YY Klingon Destroyer a B'rel, or another home brew design? (I have seen a B'rel in YY Screenies but since I don't know what ships your using for what purpose, and there is no reason why KA Style designations should have any bearing on YY, I don't know what hull class your using the B'rel for )

The B'rel, which we call the D12 is the Klingon Destroyer. Indeed while we both use many of the same designs many have different classifications. The Excelsior for example I believe you are using as a battlecruiser but we are using as a battleship.

Maybe a unit list (for the publically acknowledged) sides is in order?

I am actually working on something like that but don't want to show it of until we have the command cruisers built.

It was originally the Klingon light cruiser when we started but I made some drastic fleet changes and now she is a map unit light cruiser that will bee seen through the Klingon campaign.

The D5 is that single nacelle type D7 isn't it? (Qa'HoS Class in KA)

Or are you using the D5 from *shudder* Enterprise.

Enterprise designs aren't that bad. They look great in context. When you have the entire fleet matching in colors and style, then they are just more ships.

Indeed quite a few designs have come from Enterprise. Many hate but many also love that series. I personally believe it was the best series of Trek (even with the temporal screw-ups) but as the saying goes each to their own.

I like ENT, you got to give them credit, they tried to make everything connect in some sort of fashion. Like with the Klingon forehead (make-up budget) thing.

Manny Coto deserves most of the credit for fixing the early wrongs (canon) wise in the show when he was brought on in season 4.

It's too bad it got cut at 4... If he had his way, there would have been a lot more done with Enterprise in seasons 5 through 7. That would have given us a lot more ships and stuff to add to the mod too!

And for those that didn't care for Enterprise.... At least we didn't make the NX class the frigate of something!

Because by the time frame of the mod, the NX class is a 150 year old (plus...) rust bucket probably... That, and the last one would be a in a scrape heap somewhere in klingon space, home to a small population of Tribbles (unless the Feds recyled them to make the Connies).

Seriously though, Enterprise the series wasn't bad. If it had been its own series it would have been just dandy, but it didn't fit well with the Pre-TOS world it was supposed to fit in. They started to fix that but, sadly the damage had been done.

Therefore my argument with ENT designs is exactly that:- They just don't fit Pre-TOS well, and so don't mesh well with more "modern" designs that a TMP Mod might use, such as the Cricket/War Bird (Rom Bird of Prey from Balance of Terror) or the D7/K'T'Inga.

Stand-alone they are fine, and an ENT mod would certainly be welcome, (I'd love to see someone make seperate sides for the Vulcans, United Earth, Tellarites and Andorians at least, they'd have to be fan made mostly but it would be interesting to see them, a massive change from the Federation we know). However me personally regarding putting ENT designs in a TOS/TMP mod, 10/10 for trying to "remaster" TOS/TMP with the newer designs but, they don't fit well for me.

I prefer to more at the core of the design really (shapes mostly). When making models for the feds, one can look at any era and get ideas... believe me, we have done just that with YY.

All in all, that what makes a mod different than the rest, is in what the modders do with the mod, and what they are inspired by.
