• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

We have a policy of fairness and a non harassment environment, with the staff quick to act on the rare occasion of when this policy is breached. Feel free to register and join our community.

Well poll #5 is up. This time it's the assault cruisers, power wise they are in between the Light and Heavy Cruisers, the assault cruisers are designed mainly for heavy artillery and troop transportation but also have standard weaponry to be effective in standard battles.

Well the Candiates are:

  • Federation Malcolm Class

    fassault.png
  • Klingon C13 Class

    kassault.png
  • Romulan Sky Raven Class

    rassault.png
  • Gorn Shyamal Class

Lets see who wins out of these candiates. :)

I just had to laugh at that Klingon one. Sorry, but what a..... strange design.

I voted for the Gorn one. To me, it is the only one that seems... well, not ugly.

Ah so Assault Cruisers are kind of like WWII Auxilliary Cruisers? Nice :)

Again, I had to go with the Gorn, although the Malcomb Class was close

Rather predictably (given that the Constant class was my favourite ship in my Cold Front mods), I've gotta go for the Malcolm class =)

Well it was based off that design and another SFC fan designed ship called the Magenulles (spelling?). ;)

Sorry, gotta agree with him here. :)

So do I.

I went with Klingons. Don't know why but I did. If I may respectfully offer some constructive critism.....These are the ugliest ships I've ever seen.

You ugly! Hey! Hey! You ugly!

You'd think we have done that on purpose would you?

Logic would dictate that the purpose for the visual images of these vessels would be to highten the visual appeal of an even greater vessel.

Lots of odd shapes here, so I went with the Gorn this time.

PS.: That Klingon ship has way too small "head".

As far as the Klingon, Yeah, she's not much to look at.... basically only a parent could love kind of look. I look at it as if it's a fat chicken attempting to fly.

But, what all these lack in "looks", they will be an instrumental piece of a successful fleet. That can be "taken to the bank"!

The proper quote for that motto would be "you can take that to the bank!" :lol2:

Na...I'm just messin with you man.

I will say that 2 ships have been delivered this week, even with the mis-fortune of my "real-life" job demanding a heap more of my time (Actually, I've been at it for a week+ now without a day off from work to boot).

I won't mention that I've just returned to work after almost a month off then...

looking forward to these new ships, just please let them be huge cruisers that can dispatch the decapitated chicken klingon ship in a few volleys :lol2:

I think, secretly, Majestic & Syf have made the Assault Cruisers Ugly on purpose. The reason for that being, that every project needs some ugly thing, that you can blow up time and time again, and get a buzz from it. ;)

We all know that not every single ship can be "cool and awesome" looking.... And as for these birds heading toward your frontline, yes, you will want to dispatch them quickly.

They are the command cruisers and I can tell you that the Federation one is awesome and may have just become my favourite Federation ship.

Coming from you, that's high praise for the ship. And yes, it can "dispatch" those headless chickens.....:)

Yes I am what one would consider fussy when it comes to models. :lol2:

Once the Klingon, Romulan and Gorn ones are completed I will do a show case of them for all you fans. Please be patient like you have already, Syf and I are working on them and they will be ready as quickly as humanly possible.

I wouldn't count out the "chickens" as you call them yet. They are Assault Cruisers, the name must mean something. :p

And who is to say that this discussion has not prompted us to increase the threat of these chickens...:lol2::lol2:

Of coarse, we wouldn't do that... Or would we?

Oh I know, I am mean. I just love to have a good laugh is all.:D

As those in the military will attest, while the frontlines (whether on the ground, on the seas, in the air or in the stars) may be seen as the "glamourous" parts of a war, often the war hinges on the humble, unappreciated, "boring" logistical parts of the armed forces.

The Assault Cruisers may not be pretty, but I dare say without their contingents of Starfleet Marines during planetary assaults or starbase captures, an awful lot of Redshirts would be going home in a box, or against Klingon warriors, several very small boxes.

To quote a very old British Wisdom
(later purloined by a B franklin of the colonies :p)

For want of a nail the shoe was lost.
For want of a shoe the horse was lost.
For want of a horse the rider was lost.
For want of a rider the battle was lost.
For want of a battle the kingdom was lost.
And all for the want of a horseshoe nail.

but i think you are missing one of the points of TMP.... lots of redshirts should be going home in boxes...it's what they do... :p

All that said I am really interested to see some pictures of these assault ships.. so, any time you're ready...
