• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

We have a policy of fairness and a non harassment environment, with the staff quick to act on the rare occasion of when this policy is breached. Feel free to register and join our community.

Since Halloween is coming up, and I saw a similar thread on Reddit, I thought it would be fun for us to share our creepy true stories. I'm going to post the same thing I put on the Reddit thread.

---

It was the early 2000s and I had had my first PC for just a few months by then. It was an old thing made mostly from spare parts my dad had laying around. I had installed Warcraft III even though I could barely run it. One day, I was playing as the Scourge and decided I was done for the night, so I exited the program. Even though the game was no longer running, the music was. 'Okay,' I thought, 'probably just some glitch.' But the music kept playing through the entire shutdown and boot up sequence and didn't stop when I logged back in. I knew that was weird, but I didn't know just how weird that was yet. I decided to do a complete system shutdown. Nothing. The music kept playing with the system off. At this point I knew something was wrong so I unplugged the speakers from the computer. And they kept playing. Then I unplugged their power cord. And they kept playing. Then I disconnected the speakers from each other. And they both kept playing independently. I checked the battery compartments on both and they were empty. I was pretty unnerved, but everyone else was asleep so I went to bed, hoping they would stop playing at some point.

When I woke up, both speakers were still playing and they were still in sync. I also realized that they weren't just playing one song or a few looping seconds, it was the entire undead playlist. I decided to go into the living room and watch TV until someone got up. When my dad got up, I told him about the speakers. He didn't believe me and said it was impossible. I brought him the speakers, still completely unplugged from everything and still playing. He got a freaked out expression, but calmly tossed them in the garbage and went to the store to buy me some new speakers. When he got back, they were still playing in the garbage can, so he threw the trash bag into the dumpster. The new speakers worked fine and I have never seen anything like that again, but for all I know, those speakers are still playing that freaking music in a landfill somewhere.

In case you're wondering how bad it was to fall asleep to, here's the Scourge playlist.

I remember putting of going to a pizza place in my neighborhood for years. So one day I decide I'm going to go and check it out. So I leave home early and go to the street where the restaurant is located only to find it closed off. Turns out the pizza place burned down.

The Universities in the Philippines are ridiculously old, dating back to the Spanish Colony times.

I had a short stint in Ateneo de Manila way back in 2011. It was around 7pm at night and went to the bathroom for a leak. I entered and heard someone whistling in one of the stalls. So I figured cool, I'm not alone here. A few seconds later it stopped, and I expected the guy to hit the flush and come out.

But no one was actually there! Sh**!!! And I be lying if I didn't run outta there faster than Usain Bolt.

As a missionary, another elder and I lived with an older couple in one of the congregations (we call them wards) that we were assigned to.

Several things happened while I lived in that home and served in that area. The one that sticks out the most though, was the one that was most benign. I had just laid down in my bed when I suddenly realized that I had forgotten to do something. I sat up and moved to turn on the light, when I saw a little girl standing next to my bed.

I stared for a few seconds, turned on the light, and then she was gone. Spent the rest of the night with the light on with some religious music playing.

I talked to the couple we were living with the next day. Turns out that the wife had a young daughter that had drowned fifty years ago. Apparently, she would make herself known whenever her mom wasn't in good health, which the wife wasn't.

Anyway. That's one of my stories.
