• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

We have a policy of fairness and a non harassment environment, with the staff quick to act on the rare occasion of when this policy is breached. Feel free to register and join our community.

World Postal Systems

Ain't it odd how differently the world's postal systems work?

I mean, recently Amazon.com announced that they will not send items to South Africa via ordinary mail, due to the (and I quote) "rampant theft" in our system. But, I've personally seen letters arrive where I work with R100 notes in them. Love to know how they decide what to steal....
And for our overseas mail, we use the Royal Mail system. Even there we have things vanish.

Personally, I'm still waiting, 10 years later, for birthday and Christmas gifts from America and Canada, not to mention cards.

So, my question is this: How do all your country's postal systems stack up?
Anyone know of any problems with their country's systems, either Mail or Courier?
It would be good to know, in my line of work (Postal/Courier:)).

Royal mail seems to have got into a habbit of stealing/losing dvd from block buster and important tax forms.

The United States Postal Service is usually good at getting things out, i have very rarely have a letter/Package, lost or stolen. though sometimes, a letter will get delivered to the wrong address. but other than that, nothing in particular comes to mind.

I trade a lot of CCG's with people in different countires, and I have to say the best ive seen (by far) is the German postal system, I and the guy I was trading with, both posted our cards on the same day, I got his cards 3 days later, mine took 2 weeks to get to him, and when he checked the post marks, it had taken 12 days to leave the UK!

The local postal service here is pretty good, we've yet to have anything stolen...though...they've never been good with packages, every time we've shipped something locally it always got to the other end broken >.<

I must admit, I've also noticed that about the German system. However, things going to Holland via Germany have a tendency toward delay or damage, for some reason....and anything going to Zimbabwe at that moment, forget it! Even courier stuff gets "misplaced".....
