• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

We have a policy of fairness and a non harassment environment, with the staff quick to act on the rare occasion of when this policy is breached. Feel free to register and join our community.

Hello, everyone! And welcome to our Regular Poll!

stupid person said:
Why do you care about SciFi and that computer stuff so much? Get a life!
Contrary to popular belief, many of us HAVE lives. But we also like to relax and do something interesting. What's your favourite pastime?

Did we miss something? Doing something special and it's not on the list? Then tell us, please!

That's it, see you in two weeks for the next poll!

This is gonna be a surprise to y'all, but I love exercise...

Football (Soccer to all you yanks out there...) Cycling and Cross Country Skiing mainly, but I like the gym and Snowboarding too...

Gaming is great (FPS multi-player mainly...), but it really comes a close second...

Modding too...

Incidentally, which idiot posted that quote you have..?

Favorite pastime?

Definitely a tie between traditional drawing/sketching and console gaming! With modding and foruming at second.

Sure, I do all of the above but you gotta pick the ones you prefer. :D

Wow, we have a lot in common I guess. I love to bike ride, ect but my favorite thing is Snowboarding. If I can't do that it is modding or just writing code.

Gaming is fun too but the fun doesn't seem to last too long after you have finished a game. I don't think I can ever 'finish' a game that I can mod.:)

Yep

The P-38 was used most successfully in the Pacific Theater of Operations and the China-Burma-India Theater of Operations as the mount of America's top aces, Richard Bong (40 victories) and Thomas McGuire (38 victories) for a good reason :)

I voted gaming because I seem to have developed a Morrowind addiction.

Reading a good book. I'm definitely a huge reader, I'd say that actually got me into Star Trek more than the show back when I was in middle school.

Also meeting people. Online forums and you guys are fun and all, but its always nice to actually meet someone in real life.

Fishing is my number one. Unfortunately, I have not had any time to do any of that of late. I guess it then falls to my number two which would be gaming.

This may sound corny but my favorite pastime or activity is just spending time with my honey to whom which I am engaged to. Life seems a lot less stressfull and simpler when I can just spend time with her. Dosent really matter what we do just as long as I am with her. :)

A certain person IRL. Though he aimed more towards me spending several hours in front of a computer screen every day. It's not like I mod & hang out here all the time, as a student of computer science I have a lot of stuff to do (like, writing lots of Java code just to practice for an exam). Some people seem to view computers as a "guilty pleasure", for whatever reason.

Not at all.

So, what do I do when I'm not studying? I loves me a good book, preferably SciFi or Weird Fiction (a dying genre, unfortunately - a unique blend of science fiction, fantasy and horror). I am a devoted fan of HP Lovecraft.
I also collect minerals, and my collection, while being remarkably compact, contains interesting stones & gems from all over the world.
When I feel the need to do some creative work, I do some writing now and then (as I've stated before, I'm an avid reader and occasionally writer of higher-quality Fan Fiction).
And of course I spend some time with you, people.

What's pastime? LOL

I love reading... lot's of reading. Just finished Stanislaw Lem's "Solaris" and now starting with the "Compact History of the Soviet Union" (500+ pages). Between that: newsmags ("Time Magazine") and newspapers (daily reader of the "Berliner Zeitung").

And watching House M.D. ...

Oh my god I love you!!:worship:

My grandfather is probably one of the keenest aero-modelers I have ever seen.

Him and my two uncles hang out and build stuff practically every evening... He had a 1/8 scale Piper Cub when I was a kid - it clipped a power line and crashed (I mean like totally disintegrated) only time I ever seen him cry... I did too...

He just recently moved onto Jets - last time I visited he had this jet trainer, my god, I have never heard anything cooler than a micro turbojet on full throttle...

He never had a Lightning though... Very, very nice...

But... what scale is that bro? - it looks HUGE... Also, IC or Electric??

Lem is great. I prefer the Cyberiada and the Star Diaries, though.

Yeah, I only play ps3 games now. Almost all of my pc games have been modded in some way, and I rarely play the ones I"m not currently modding. I don't even really play them anyway. I call it testing.:)
