• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

We have a policy of fairness and a non harassment environment, with the staff quick to act on the rare occasion of when this policy is breached. Feel free to register and join our community.

This thread is very simple, the history on how you got here.

I'll start.

May 2000 - I got a copy of Star Trek Armada for my birthday from a friend. I initially thought I wouldn't like it, but that changed after playing it for a little while. Not long afterwards I upgraded my PC to run the game better and I eventually started to mod the game and joined AFC. My first mod was to add P81's Dauntless class to the game and after that I added the Galaxy class.

26th June 2001 - Armada 2 was released. I bought it the day it came out in Australia. I was dissapointed with it at first and did play it much after I got it and went back to Armada 1.

July-August 2001 - I went back to Armada 2 and eventually it grew on me and I started to mod the game, like I did whent I first got Armada 1.

September 2001 - I rejoined AFC after it upgraded.

September 2001 - April 2005 - Started to know some of the regulars at AFC, this included Syf, Elrond, Hellkite, Borg_Queen, Blindeye, Harrie and so on. Also during this time I started the Mirror Wars mod. Later on Syf suggested a merger with his Federations mod and the Microverse Team was found, Syf, Zered and I were the Co-Founders and later members like Icewolf and Atlantis joined the team.

April 2005 - Joined in the Legacy RPG on AFC and I was Syf's Engineer and then First Officer after Elrond was promoted.

May 2005 - Co-creator with half a dozen other members of the Shattered Frontier RPG. Thats the first time the USS Midway came too creation, though she wasn't as as advanced in that RPG as she is today.

June/July2005 - I create my first forums (Majestic Downloads) on the 1-2-free-forums server. The server was slow and was using an old version on the phpBB forums software so it didn't last that long. In the same month I joined Elronds forums as one of his first group of members. Also during this time I along with Syf, Elrond and Zered started up Red Ash which was originally called Legends of Atlantis.

August 2005 - Majestic Downloads was moved to the forumup server. I and my staff manually repost 90% of what was on the old forums. During it's time the site expanded and really boosted in members. The USS Midway RPG was born and still lives on today, the ideas for the RPG came from many people here.

October 2005 - Majestic Downloads (MD) was renamed to Majestic Sci-fi Central (MSFC).

December 2005 - The forumup started to have server problems. The server problems had been going since around October/November 2005 and didn't effect MSFC until early this month.

Janurary 2006 - It was time to upgrade. The forum up problems were just too annoying so I started looking for hosts.

Feburary 2nd 2006 - The day that I paid for a web server and a domain name and I started working on the new MSFC here at www.majesticscificentral.com. I used the phpBB forum software.

April 2006 - I did a massive update over the Easter break. I dumped the phpBB software and bought a copy of the vBulletin software. I also installed VBadvanced and included a downloads section. I promoted CaptSyf (Syf) from forum moderator to Administrator and my second in command. On the 2nd of this month I joined A2files forums after visiting it for years.

Also in this month I started Parallels a mod for Star Trek Armada 2.

September 15th 2006 - I started Yesteryears, not long afterwards Syf joined me and started creating models for the mod, I then dumped all the models that I had converted from SFC that were going to be used in the mod.

November 2006 - All Microverse projects were put on hold.

9th April 2007 - Easter had just gone and I decided it was time for another massive upgrade for the site.

Well thats my story whats yours?

Well mine is short and sweet!

I don't know when but my big bro said "Hey Jess come and look at the site I have been creating!" and after much umming and ahhing (because I am totally not into sci fi or anything) I went and liked all the people and joined. I only post in the general discussion session.

Then on the old free forums site I became a moderator because... actually I'm not sure why, I must have done something good. Then when the site moved here I became a supermod, and that's my story so far!

How I got here... Umm

1974: The one that would be called Syf was born in LA, CA.
1978: Lived in MA
1979: First year of school
1980s: Schooling, Became a fan of things like Transformers, Robotech, buck Rogers, TOS Star Trek, TOS BSG, and many many more Sci-Fi genre.
1990s: Ended Schooling, Learned advanced computer tech, became a computer tech, etc.
1999: On Sept. 15, Starfleet Command was released. It would soon become the first game I ever actually modded.
2000: On Feb. 29th of this year, one of the best games ever made came to my hands. Soon I learned that this game was moddable like no other. Later that year, AFC was formed. I became a member for a short time, then life got in the way. I lost my first copy of Armada. I for the most part, started modeling at this point, but was not too into it.
2001: On Nov. 12, STar Trek Armada 2 was released. I played it for hours to beat it. After that, I started poking around the game and soon discovered it was moddable too, like the original one was. But this game in my opinion, was far better than A1. Over the next few years, I modded privately this game on and off again, all the while learning and mastering 3D modeling.
2004: I rejoined AFC, then soon started a major mod project, Federations. Later, Majestic, Zered, Hellkite, Elrond, and several more people would become part of this project, along with merging thier projects into a "Micro" version of the Trek universe, hense the Federations Microverse was born.

For the rest of the story, read Majestic's post, and that will sum it up.

June 5, 1982: I'm born in a place called New Kensington, Pennsylvania, United States at 22:31 hours Eastern Daylight Time (June 6, 1982 at 02:31 hours GMT).
1990: Became fascinated with Star Trek for the first time. I think the first episode I saw was Best of Both Worlds Part 2.
October 16, 1994: My grandfather on my dad's side died this day at around 3 AM.
September 1996: Got my first computer, what a piece of junk! Also I entered 9th grade at this time.
November 1996: Most awesome Star Trek movie in my opinion came out: Star Trek: First Contact.
December 1997: I met my first true love at this time, now I was in 10th grade. I would later be engaged to her.
August 1998: A friend of mine helps me to discover one of the coolest places on Earth, a place not all too far from home: Gettysburg. I didn't come there for learning battle tactics, but I came more or less for the history and the view of the place.
December 1998: Star Trek: Insurrection comes out in theaters. I guess that's important, sort of.
1999: Best year of my life. At the end of this year I get engaged with my girlfriend.
March 3, 2000 (I think): I get Star Trek Armada as a gift for something I dunno what. LoL. And of course I'm excited as hell! So I start playing that game and begin to love it with each additional mission! Then I hacked the file that controls missions and made it so that every mission was unlocked. That kinda spoiled it LoL.
May 2000: My first true love died in a car accident and that moment decided what I'd be like for at least the next several years.
August 28, 2000: My first experience in dorm life at college. I was so homesick that day. It sucked at first but I'd grow to enjoy it (sort of).
September 19, 2000: I go on my first date since the tragedy of May 2000, but I don't go beyond the first date and don't end up calling this girl so I just kinda hid out in my dorm room at this time because things were constantly depressing after May 2000. No day was a sunny day in these times.
October 2000: To make matters worse, my parents separate, for the 3rd and final time. When it rains, it pours.
November 2000: I install the first mod I'd ever seen of Armada 1: The whatever it's called mod (my mind is blurry). It was the one with the Borg command cube I think.
September 5, 2001: I meet Amy, whom I'm with now. She had said that she noticed me there a year before when I was a freshman and she was a sophomore. I remember looking across the room at her in Physics class and I was like "Oh my Lord". I was like, what chance did I have with her. So we became lab partners and I actually got to talk to her. I became her tutor.
September 11, 2001: This day is obvious. Everyone knows what happened here. Very bad day in history.
December 2001: Amy begins to invite me over more often to help with her homework, so I go over there and day after day I realize that I'm teaching her the same parts of the lessons I've been before. And I'm like, something else is going on. I was oblivious. Also, Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring comes out in theaters. Amy invites me to come to see that movie with her so I do.
March 2002: Amy and I stay up late at her apartment working on a lab project and so since it was too late to go anywhere, I stayed there and that's the first time we kissed. I was still nervous about any kind of relationship at this time since all that had happened a couple of years before.
* Rest of 2002, a Blur *
December 2002: Star Trek Nemesis and Lord of the Rings: Two Towers come out in theaters! I also made my first post on AFC forums. Until that time, I didn't even know what a forum was. I also began my own personal mod for Armada 2. What a month! However, the month ended bad. My grandmother became ill with pneumonia and went to the hospital.
February 16, 2003: My grandmother dies at around 5 or 6 AM after 5 or 6 weeks of being in the hospital.
April 2003: I join AFC site as Josh. I get about 120 posts and then rejoin a year later as Elrond.
June 2003: Amy and I 'speed up' our relationship. Unfortunately at this time she had already graduated and I would only see her a few more times. After this time, I wouldn't see her for over a year, though I'd talk to her over the phone.
February 16, 2004: Another February 16 that ended bad. I don't quite finish my student teaching and so I just graduate with a degree in Computer Science and Earth Science. It just wouldn't prove too useful for a while (mostly due to me being extra super mega lazy).
April 2004: Rejoin AFC as Elrond. Meet some people. Yadda yadda, at that time I forget who I met around that time. My mind is blurry.
November 2004: I meet a girl named Katie, go steady with her - for a month. But I put my thoughts back on Amy and move on as I knew I'd be meeting Amy again. I also joined Filefront forums this month, as well as A2Files.
March 2005: I finally meet Amy again! Less than a year later I'd be engaged to her!
May 15, 2005: This is the day I became an administrator of Armada Fleet Command. Didn't expect that to happen actually. Most of my posts were controversial and political in nature. Anyway, I meet some new folks such as Majestic, Syf, Hellkite, Icewolf, brobrodeel, Great_White_Fro (Fro we call him now), Zered, Corbomite_Ray, Harrie, Borg Queen, oh yes, and JPKTrekker (Shadow Phoenix aka Eragon), and so on and so forth.
July 2005: I join a clan called SF (Starfleets) and meet with some folks named brobrodeel, Fro, Shadow Phoenix, etc. We play a lot of Armada, and get on a thing that they called TeamSpeak and I didn't know how to use it at all. Oh yeah, I got drunk while talking on teamspeak. That's not something I like to mention for I don't drink that much.
July 6, 2005: For some reason I found this new Invision Free Forum called Universal Armageddon Modding Team Forums, which after the converting of this mod to a personal mod, I named it Phoenix Galactic Alliance. Somehow the name stuck.
August 2005: I meet this girl and do some things I regret, seeing as how Amy and I were going steady. Never would I do that again. Oh, and also this month I create my own teamspeak server.
September 2005: The Invision free board got the official name of Phoenix Galactic Alliance.
October 2005: brobrodeel, Blindeye, and I leave SF shortly after Fro leaves. We join RS but don't stay active so after that we never join any clans again (well Blindeye and Fro went on to RS and then some other ones I forget their names LoLs).
Also, in this month I created the server that would host Phoenix Galactic Alliance. pGA looked like crap at first, but over time it would grow as initially I had no idea what I was really doing and I didn't have much creativity back then.
November 15, 2005: The domain phoenixgalacticalliance.com is purchased for 42 bucks a year LoL.
December 2005: I get the game Battle for Middle Earth, and I end up moving toward that game for modding and gaming. I never seem to stay in one place forever LoL.
February 5, 2006: The day I proposed to Amy.
November 2006: I find out that Amy has to move her grandparents to Ohio and stay there for a month or more starting at the end of the holidays.
February 2007: Amy finally comes back and things are better than ever!
April 9, 2007: Majestic's site takes steroids and becomes like Super MSFC! I never saw a theme this awesome for a vB site before, and there are a lot of awesome vB sites out there, this one beats them all! They're up to version 3.6.5 now? Wow!
April 10, 2007 (yesterday): Amy had to leave back for Ohio again and might be there for a while. Things might be hard but we'll both get through it.

I guess that's some of the history.
