• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

We have a policy of fairness and a non harassment environment, with the staff quick to act on the rare occasion of when this policy is breached. Feel free to register and join our community.

After I finished my recent retexture of Jetfreak-7's Miranda Class to use his Wyvern sub-Class skin, I wanted to apply the skin to other ships that use Constitution class parts. However, I ran into significant issues that require actual image editing/manipulation software. Photoshop (in it's current version) is out of my reach - their subscription model is too pricy for me. Thus, I'm asking MSFC for ideas on what program to use for Armada 2 texture manipulation. I have Microsoft's Paint.NET but it wasn't helpful on my current project.

What do you guys use and where can I find them? My Google Fu wasn't helpful outside of Paint.NET.

Been a long time since I tried my hand at anything, but I remember GIMP being a popular alternative?

I recently heard of a site called Photopea. It's supposed to be an online version of Photoshop that runs in your browser. I've never used it myself but I believe it's free and paid for by ads.

I myself have been using GIMP for a long time. It's free software and quite powerful. I've never used Photoshop so I can't say whether or not it has similar features, but so far GIMP has had every functionality I needed as part of my modding work.

If you do decide to give it a try, feel free to shoot your questions at me.

Thanks guys! I'll give GIMP a try.

Someone was also very kind (who I'm not going to say as they PM'ed me and didn't say anything here) to send me a way to get an old copy of Photoshop.

Once again, thank you all!
