• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

    Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

I believe everyone here played Klingon Academy mod for A1/A2, I really liked it... Almost all ships from original game...
So, Terradyhne I have request for you, because I saw you're doing Klingons from TOS/TMP and btw excellent work :) ... Can you make this ship...Sorry I don't have picture from in-game of original Klingon Academy... It seems pretty interesting ship...Or if someone has seen this ship for Armada, please let me know

I'm working on the Klingon supertug but those Clydesdale freighters i need pics of them ingame as the containers are on the wrong places when i load the models in my programm i use for conversion.

Hey Terradyhne...dont worry...I found Clydesdale model in SFC, however, there's no "super" version of same class... So keep working on that Klingon tug...dont worry about Feds...

the Klingon Tug model is done and textured, remade some parts in higher poly and added some more details. raised the polycount from 477 to 895 polys

Here is one more new model, its the Tholian Emerald class. This ship is based on a design which has been only shown on photos in the KA community, due to file loss of the original model and i took a bit artistic freedom to add those warpgrills. I even changed the color of the textures to Emerald green, as the model on the photos had blue textures. this model has 488 polys

and another Tholian ship which was designed by the well known Atolm, its his so called pursuit ship.

if someone gets this game running on a modern system and than using 3d ripper DX to ripp those models from the game and than converting them to the games you like

!! I have released the Saber Bear TUG for A2 in the Resources section !!
the A1 version would involve more time to make the glowing bits for the warp and impulse and as this game doesnt run annymore on my PC, i just don't want to invest more of my spare time to make a A1 version of the model.

I tried to run DW on my Win8.1 laptop...It doesfn't run at all...I could try on my old laptop once I get home for 2 months
And I'll try Invasion..

And how do you extract ship models from KA?

first you need to unpack the game-files and than you need to load those files in LWS and LWO-format into a 3d modelling programm like 3ds max, unwrap 3d etc. (i use Deepexploration). the next step is to delete those broken mesh parts, which are in the model of the ship in KA, then you need to regroup the polys and retexture them, because KA models have manny groups in the meshes and A2 for instance get much lag if there are more than 2 groups in the mesh. I don't know how much groups A1 support without much lag, but i know that you can have more than 2 groups in A1 models, without much lag.
You even need to merge the manny textures from KA for the model, into one or two or how much groups you have. Last is to convert those models into the file-format of your game you want it to have in and add the Hardpoints etc.

Great work mate. You've done a good job on those. :D

Hm, it seems tough... I'd like they are in MOD format and than would be easy to convert...I don't know did anyone convert Tholian and Sha’kurian vessels from KA to A1/A2??
In case you missed it, I commented on resources section..Sabre Tug misses tga file for whole model..so it is "white" in game

i reuploaded the Sabre bear and KCL rework models, both now with textures.

I have converted the Tholian and Shakurian models to SFC2 some years ago

Did you save models or uploaded them anywhere? I know how to convert from MOD to SOD...
I'm adding all ships from ST games to A1...There could be more than 100 ships

Check out the KA romulan mod. I got so many models out of that for my Homeworld Cataclysm mod, very cool.

I'm adding all ships from ST games to A1...There could be more than 100 ships

i can send you those Sha’kurian vessels in 3ds format, for those SFC Models of the requested ships you could ask the guys at Battleclinic, if they have saved them, as they had a SFC file repository till mid 2014.

That sounds great mate :) upload them asap... I don't know did you see my post on sabre tug..I downloaded file again, but mentioned texture file is still missing..or maybe i'm missing something :D

The Sabre Bear download has been updated and now there should be all needed files in the zip.
I only have those Shakurians as unedited 3ds files, so they need some tweeking but i can send them to you.

The last days i've been working on a "low poly" version of Dave Metlesits Klingon TOS Bird of Prey and i made a model with 2256 polys of it. I know it's not that low but i just don't want to get lower with the detail and there maybe some hidden polys which you don't see in finished model, which i can eliminate but that doesn't get the polycount much lower.

for that you have to export the model to 3DS file and than reload into max and merge the mesh parts into one, than you have to retexture it to use only one texture, as Armada and Armada 2 don't support the use of multiple textures on one mesh like SFC does.

Yes that is the Bertaa and the TOS resourcefreighter for the Klingons is from me to. If they want more of my models than i'm sure they will ask for them, i don't mod Homeworld 2.

The TOS Klingon BOP model is done and i got it down to 2179 polys, it was tested in a 1.2.5 patched A2 and there it works fine, even if it got mass produced.
