• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

    Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

Stock A2 Mission Map Issue in Upgrade Project Mod

Was wondering if anyone could assist me with an issue I'm having with the Upgrade Project mod? In the last Borg mission "Rift" as soon as the mission screen comes up and you click OK to proceed all the ships of the Fed and Borg all fly up and disappear into the top of the map except the Incursion ship which just sits there and is not controllable.

If I try this in a stock A2 version I have in FO or even the Classic mod it plays just fine. Even if I copy the stock A2 unedited map into my mod it still does this weird thing with the ships flying up and disappearing? I edited all the original maps for the mod and perhaps thought I messed up a trigger element or something, but using a completely stock map is still affected?

One strange thing I notice is that I can't drag-select anything on the map with the mouse either. It's like something is reacting to this one particular map. Has anyone experienced this or have any ideas why it might be happening?

Have you adjusted the map floor?

EDIT: The one in RTS_CFG.h, I mean.

I did have custom values for the map floor settings, but I changed those all back to stock. I also changed all the "avoidanceClass" settings back to stock, but no luck there either. I don't see how anything in the ART_cfg file would have any effect on this so can't be that.

I compared my edited RTS_cfg file to a stock version and except the handicap values there's really nothing there that I can see that would affect this one single mission map.

I'm just really stumped on this one.

I thought of that next so changed all my altered physics files back to stock and no go. I also thought maybe one of the .drl or .dsl files in the missions folder could have become corrupted so copied over stock ones from another install, but nope.

I tried something else and got more weird results. On any map I can hit ctrl-A when it loads and it takes me into the editor. I can do whatever then go back to the game and continue with the mission with no issue. I tried it on this map though and what happened was the screen altered a bit in that the words in the map editor menu became thicker in print, the sounds changed a bit and the mouse pointer left tracks all over the map if I moved it.

I've run a virus scan and a malware scan, but nothing comes up there

the mouse pointer left tracks all over the map if I moved it.
That happened in A1 if there was a hole in the background SOD. Whatever went over the hole left tracks. Maybe check out other maps with that background texture and see if they have the same problem?
