This sounds like something that would be a horrible distraction during this semester of school...dang it! Well, looks like I've got something fun to look forward to this summer leastways.

Care to elaborate Hellkite? This sounds like something I should have known.

They pretty much messed up their dates again. Cryptic doesn't know how to read a calender. There may have been more, but for the most part, it was poorly done, the winners were junk, and they took forever to release the winners names.

My opinion is still the same of the game, however it's something Katala and I can play together and have some fun. We have both already played the tutorial missions, a bit disappointed I couldn't play as a Klingon, I so prefer their ships to the Federation. Glad I never put any money into it, I think the Star Wars Old Republic would be a better game.

My character name is: John th'Majest onboard the USS Midway (Display Name: Majesticmsfc)
Katala's Character: Kat Ala onboard the USS Medusa (Display Name: Katala77)

I think that you may be putting more blame on Cryptic than they deserve. I am not saying they ran the contest right by any means. My point is that with CBS owning the IP, they can not put anything in the game without CBS' giving approval for. There are already things they brought to them that CBS shot down.

That may be the case, but tbh, it does not bother me so much. I would definitly play it if I could but I don't have a comp that can atm.

Main in-game character name is Daniel Negron

Having a bit of an issue. I tried to transwarp back to Earth to get my bearings, but now the system doesn't load. If this keeps up, I may have to change to my alternative character.

For a look at the new KDF Flagship, click here.

Also, the next Featured Series is scheduled to begin on Feb 11.

Finally seems to be more new mission content coming.

"In other news:
CBS in the shape of John van Citters gave me green light to get my starships in Star Trek Online.

I'm preparing a list of questions and tech specs that I need to sent to Cryptic, see how and if we can shape this. To be continued. :)"

-Mark Rademaker via his blog site.

It appears the Vesta class could very well be coming to Star Trek Online. This is something the team at Cryptic wanted for some time but had to go through a lot of red tape between themselves, CBS, and Rademaker.

I'm a bit surprised that they are going to have the Vesta, considering it's from the books which are in a totally different timeline where the Borg were absorbed why the species who accidentally created them in the first place. I personally prefer that timeline over the STO one.

Thanks for keeping us up to date. It will be interesting to find out what level the Vesta will be, probably a VA, perhaps as a tactical or science vessel. The latter seems more reasonable to me. The Odyssey is a engineering vessel I believe.

I played it for some months when it came out, and resumed now that it became f2p (took a little break). I never really got the Star Trek-feeling I wanted from it (not sure why), but it was a lot of fun for a while. After a while the missions became repetative and boring, and that's why I took my break. It haven' changed much, but some new twists are there (like the 2 year anniversary with Q), that make the game fun to play. It is not the best game ever, but it has its moments :) (just wanted to share my opinion about it)

For some news (if it haven't already been said): The newest feature episodes are out now. Looks promising, as the feature episodes are the most fun of the game in my opnion :)

Think the Vesta would have made a far better ENT-F than the somewhat awful thing they chose. If I get lucky enough to acquire one, then I'll use it this way.

It is a shame the new Feature Episodes are so bugged though which make it more annoying than fun, for many people you can go through the whole mission, complete it perfectly and then when you get out it gives no reward basically says you have to do it all over again which makes it so tedious and annoying, this has happened to many of us both in team and singularly, I'm so bored with having to do it over many times on each character that I flat out refuse to do it anymore.

This problem is not unique to STO. SOme MMOs are so buggy as to be right at the point of CTD events. And they seem to stay that way for days at a stretch. My experience of this particular MMO is admittedly limited compared to most but most of the bugs and hiccups I've seen so far are very minor and the Dev Team seems to be actively involved in the Community and paying attention. Both of these are rare. And rarer still in a FTP MMO.

With the amount of FTP MMO's I've played, I have to say STO is the buggiest and it hasn't even been FTP for very long. they have had 2years of paid members to finance improvement to problems, I still think they should fix the bugs they already have before going and creating more content with even more bugs, I think more than anyone SciFiFan understands who it is to go through the particular mission I was refering to considering he has missed out the most from its huge amount of bugs.

Bugs have indeed been a huge issue with the game. They do work on the bugs and a lot of times, they get a lot of tem fixed. The problem is, when they release new content, it usually brings up old bugs or creates new ones. As for 2 yrs of paid subs, that is true. One year of that though Cryptic had been tied up with red tape due to the sale of Cryptic Studios and the conversion to F2P. Before Atari sold Cryptic, they placed a hiring freeze on the company which really hurt. Once sold to Perfect World Entertainment, the promised Cryptic the world but, wanted F2P pushed as quickly as possible. I do see things going in the right direction and more people have been hired so.........lets see what year 3 has :D

I think F2P was the best move for the game, it has brought in a lot more gamers any whom have purchase points or gold accounts brining in more money to the companies. I do hope they solve the bugs, the annoying ones that require you to log out so you can actually shoot again or even move again is my biggest issues. I can handle the graphic bugs as they don't affect gameplay.

Here's to hoping for year three and also hope on the 3 year celebration I can hand in my Party Crasher assignment to Q that I missed out on handing in my a mere few seconds. He disappeared right in front of me just like the real Q would.

For those of you who have started Star Trek Online with Free to Play I have some good news. They are going to have featured episode reruns in May that will allow you to earn the limited time rewards. So polish up your energy weapons, sharpen those blades, and prepare your ship for battle.

Great news, any idea what rewards they will be? Looks like I need to get quite a few characters up, I have 9 with only 2 at VA, and 2 at RA, the rest are Captain or Commander with one Lieutenant.

The rewards were as follows:
Breen Invasion: Breen Tactical Bridge Officer
The Devidians: Ophelian Cane
Cloaked Intentions: Romulan Science Bridge Officer
Second Wave: Shard of Possibilities

I am also interested to know how long the event will run for, 9 characters is a lot of characters to get rewards for.

The unofficial release stated for the month of May. I imagine it could be a week for each series or perhaps, they will rerun them all simultaneously for the entire month. As soon as they issue the official release, I will link it here.

Doh, bought a Breen officer off the exchange for 2.2 million, might re-sell it and get my money back lol.

Haven't had time to play at all for the past few weeks. Time to remove some dust from my characters in may then.

Lifetime Subscriptions for Star Trek Online is currently on sale til June 29th. The normally $299 US fee is now only $199 US. This is a better deal than the one I took advantage of ($260 I believe).

Story Here.
