• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

We have a policy of fairness and a non harassment environment, with the staff quick to act on the rare occasion of when this policy is breached. Feel free to register and join our community.

Ok, so if you haven't noticed, you can now access new duty assignments by exploring the interior of your ship and talking to some of your officers. In addition to this, there are new contacts all around bases in the game. There are some behind the library building in Starfeet Academy, some on ESD, Ds9, etc. I have not explored them all to see what they offer, but one I just found is really worth looking into.

In the Center of ESD, you will find an officer that allows you to turn in 3 units of contraband in a duty assignment. If you succeed, you get 2000 dilithium out of the deal! That makes contraband worth around 667 dilithum each! At the time of this post, Contraband is going for ~47000 energy credits on the exchange. That means for little under 150,000 energy credits you can get 2000 dilithuim, making dilithuim worth only ~75 e-creds per unit! I jumped on this deal and bought up all the contraband I could under 50k. It is not an amazing ammount of dilithum, but it is the best way I have seen yet to turn e-creds into dilithum. You must keep in mind this a duty assignment, so it takes time(2hrs I believe), and it has a medium casualty risk.

Has anyone else found some cool assignments? Or better yet, a more efficient way to get dilithum! :D

EDIT: unfortunately, I think people are catching on because by the time I posted this, it appears that the price for contraband has already gone up to around 60-70k.:( It is still a bargain though, unless I am missing a better way to get dilithum. I already bought 15 contraband, + the three already in my assignment.

EDIT2: It also appears that the assignment has no risk of failure, only risk of casualty.

I'd just do the dilithium missions in Deferi space and Federation space as a KDF character they give more dilithium for 45 mins of your time and cost no energy credits, I feel the new Duty Assignment is the lazy man's way. :lol2:

I don't mean that this would be all you do. :) I try to do everything I can to get dilithium. This is just another easy way to get it, and sometimes you have extra e-creds just lying around.

Like the new Duty Assignments add ons. Makes Fire Blade feel more like a ship and crew. I'd like to to see the Devs do a bit more on the RPG side of the house. I've been busy spending all my loot to flesh out my Duty Officers. My goal is to get one of each kind and then upgrade them gradually. This may take awhile, too. The Uncommon Quality seems to bring the most bang for the buck here as well. I laughed when I went to the Mess Hall and spoke with the Chef. The assignment I got was to make a Cajun style meal for the crew. Klingons eating Crawfish Etouffe with fresh collard greens and skillet cornbread on the side probably violates at least three interstellar treaties. Never mind the fact sweet tea is probably considered contraband in the Gorn Hegemony. Bet they'll never look at gagh the same way again, lol.
