I enjoyed the movie myself certainly not what I expected but they did a great job at it.

Looking forward to Rogue Obe next year.

Just got back home from watching The Force Awakens. I am at a loss. It was absolutely brilliant. Emotional roller coaster for sure. I do love the updates to the aesthetics of the movie. Much better than episode 1-3.

I watched SW7: TFA on 12/25/15. It was a good movie, it had some similarities to SW4: ANH. The First Order is a Monster compared to the Galactic Empire; taking the idea of Deathstar and incorporating it and building the Starkiller into a Planet is totally insane.

I grew up watching the original SW Trilogy and was amazed of the universe of Star Wars. When the Prequel SW Trilogy came out I was amazed of getting to see the Old Jedi Order, Old Galactic Republic and more in depth look of the different planets and worlds.

Looking forward to seeing the third SW Trilogy to be completed; an looking forward to seeing the SW Anthology series of movies....Rogue One, Han Solo, Kenobi and Boba Fett.

Don't laugh or scoff, but I finally just watched Episode VII tonight. I just never got around to it until now and I really don't know how I feel? I don't know if spoilers are still required however, I"ll use them.

I loved Rey and Finn's characters/stories. Awesome. Maybe I'm dense, but can't figure out who's kid she is. No, I didn't go digging for spoilers. Is Kylo Ren the most wussified evil Jedi ever? I was waiting for someone to spank him or send him in the corner. Maybe it's just me? Nice twist that he's Han and Leigha's son.

And the First Order. Are they the most ineptly portrayed organization or what? Yes, I get it's just a movie, but their incompetence was crazy. I understand more episodes will tell more of the story, but I don't get this mysterious new supreme leader? Palpatine's Grandfather? Kidding.

I was totally blown away at the presumed death of Han Solo. It was like I got punched in the face during that scene. I say presumed, because you never know what might happen, but still. I loved the new jump to/coming out of light speed effects. So cool.

And where is the Rebel fleet we last saw? I'm sure the Empire kept pursuing them even after the Deathstar was destroyed, but all we have now are a hand full of new X-Wings? And the Rebels are as ever on the run, but we just park them all out in the open instead of some hidden base?

I guess one part of it is that there is a continuation of the original 3 movies. like part of me doesn't want to accept it? Seeing everyone on screen together again feels so good yet it's hard to believe. Maybe being older has jaded me and I'm too picky now? It was exciting, kind of left me emotionally drained/sad/happy all wrapped into one. I certainly liked/enjoyed it, but just not sure how I feel overall I think. I think it just left me hungry for more

I'm not entirely sure we still need the spoiler tags either, but better safe than sorry.

Rey and Finn are awesome. I wasn't entirely sure if they could pull off mixing new characters with old ones, but those two are just great characters with fantastic actors.

We're not supposed to know who Rey's parents are yet. Abrams has said she's not a Skywalker or a Solo. Han seems to have known, but, well...

Kylo Ren was odd. On the one hand, he can be awesome and creepy. On the other, he seems to be more Anakin than Vader. I loved when the stormtroopers saw his tantrum and walked off. Making him Han and Leia's kid is going to make the next movies interesting.

And the First Order. Are they the most ineptly portrayed organization or what? Yes, I get it's just a movie, but their incompetence was crazy. I understand more episodes will tell more of the story, but I don't get this mysterious new supreme leader? Palpatine's Grandfather? Kidding.
I thought that the First Order actually seemed more competent than the Empire. They were able to mount a good sneak attack or two and their stormtroopers posed more of a threat, particularly the riot-trooper that dueled Finn.

They're also much smaller, probably only controlling a few worlds; they simply don't have the grand fleets of the Empire. I'm pretty sure we only saw one Star Destroyer in the movie, too.

No idea who Snoke is, though. He doesn't even look like any species I'm familiar with.

And where is the Rebel fleet we last saw? I'm sure the Empire kept pursuing them even after the Deathstar was destroyed, but all we have now are a hand full of new X-Wings? And the Rebels are as ever on the run, but we just park them all out in the open instead of some hidden base?
Most of the Rebels have been integrated into the New Republic along with most of the Imperial infrastructure and those members of the Imperial military that were just there for the paycheck and didn't care about the politics or Palpatine's ideology. Leia's Resistance is just a small number of people still dedicated to fighting what's left of the Empire. Technically speaking, they're outlaws and the New Republic officially disavows their actions. The Republic does fund them under the table, though.

As for the base being out in the open, maybe the planet is somewhere the First Order can't get to? Or they can't afford to build underground bases anymore? I didn't even notice before, but you're right that it's a change in how they operate.

I know how you feel. I'm definitely going to need to see how the trilogy turns out. I think this was a promising start and the next one will probably be at least as good, but the ending is always the hard part. Back to the Future Part 3, The Dark Knight Rises, Mass Effect 3, Batman: Arkham Knight, the Halo 3 campaign, and a million other things all show how difficult it is to finish a trilogy in a way that's satisfying. Will this one turn out well? I suppose we'll find out eventually.
