• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

    Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

Join them as they make a stand as they find the answers to the questions. What and who will you fight for, when all that you know and hold dear falls down around you ?

Remastered version is available on steam and you also get the Classic versions as well and it's not a bad price either.

Yeah, but I'm a college student so I'm somewhat broke. And after checking the recommended system requirements, I think I want to upgrade my system a bit.

I have the original somewhere on disk. However I never was a fan of Homeworld. It was mainly the view point that I found too hard. Being in the action rather than looking from above I found incredibly hard to manage a fleet.

That said I would be interested in knowing more about your idea Hellkite, like units, factions and so on. Interesting concept.

The setup that I'm going with is that the player will start out with the

Interesting set-up there. I like the idea that forces are fighters and not capital ships. Gives a real carrier feel to the mod.

- an alliance of several alien civilizations against the Federation following the defeat of the Borg in 2381. These races include the Romulans, the Breen, the Tholians, the Gorn, the Tzenkethi and the Kinshaya.

Neutral territories- Secessionists worlds that only seceded from the Federation to stay out of the conflict. " Vulcan is one of them as well as all of her colonies " this is not real a cohesive group they are spread out sometimes Isolated and alone

Interesting faction list, but wouldn't the Federation be overwhelmed with both a civil war and then the Typhoon Pact at their door?

I agree. Wouldn't that be taken care of however by the Khitomer Accords?

Well the Federation would be at half strength, so even if the Klingons, Ferengi and Cardassians joined as in the books I still think they would be outnumbered if war broke out. As the Federation would be fighting and internal and external conflict at the same time.

I did that for a reason and yes it going to be a overwhelming to a point until the two side get their head out of the collective arses .

I'm going back to the roots of Star trek in other words using the story to address the modern day with the story

What are your ideas for them? I know that they were using escorts type ships as that character did use a Defiant successor type ship.

I see your fleet as mostly older class taking from moth ball fleet yards with a few newer ships that defected to your fleet

For you and the Fed the Capital Class will be build able

But your Capital Class should be no more advanced than a Nebula but since unit caps on Heavy Cruiser is two you can have two Dawnstars class as your Heavy Cruisers.

But you fleet should be Frigate heavy with fighter support

It should be noted that your Fleet cost per ship will be lower than all other fleets

were the Feds will have the highest cost

Fleet strengths and weaknesses

Seraphim's Carrier Strike Group (CSG)

Strengths

Mobilty faster force projection higher Unit cap on fighters and Corvettes and support craft
stronger Fighter and Corvettes

Reasoning
Veteran pilots and nature of (CSG) unit

Weaknesses

Capital Class ships are un replaceable smaller Frigate cap

Reasoning
no ship yards limited crew numbers and no stable resource sources

Federation

Strengths :

Newer ships with higher Attacks , Shielding and shorter Research cost /time

Reasoning
for this is that the Federation as most of the Fleet yards and Research stations of the old UFP

Weaknesses:

Ships will take longer to build 150% longer build time than the Colonial Alliance
Salvage Corvette will only disable ships no capture ships from other fleets function

Reasoning

Ship will take longer to build due to complexity of the ships
Salvage Corvette will only disable ships the Fed dose not see the older ship as a valuable



Colonial Alliance

Strengths;

Short build time and cheaper ship cost

Heavier armored Salvage Corvette = to Frigate in armor " Expert ship raiding "

Reasoning


Simpler designs of known techs no need to research

Vets at ship raiding how they stared their fleet in the first place


Weaknesses

Older ships with weaker Attacks , Shielding and longer Research cost /time compared to the Fed
Reasoning

Use older sometimes out dated ships class most of which were taking form a Moth ball fleet yards
