Not liking the Klingons. Looks good otherwise, though.

I am really hoping it turns out that those aren't the Klingons. Not holding my breath though.

I think they are. And I think they made way too much of an effort to make them all look like Krall

They're definitely the Klingons. I feel they look too Reman, or too much like the Klingon from Into Darkness, but with the makeup done on a much smaller budget. Also, I was fine with that guy not having hair to make him distinct (some humans shave their heads, after all), but Klingons in general should have a lot of hair, or at least some facial hair like they've had since TOS.

I had the same thought in reference to Krall

I'm worried that there wasn't all that great a shot of the ship itself. Makes me wonder if they're trying to hide a butt-ugly design

I heard something about them being ancient Klingons who were in suspended animation and were awoken. Hence the different appearance as Klingons in that era should be infected with the Augment virus and thus look like Humans.

I must prefer SciFiFan's comment on facebook about them being Hurq, would be cool. I'd love to see them cause a lot of issues that leads up to TOS.

One of the things that got me thinking [hoping] that they may be Hurq is that in one book I read (I know, not canon) that much of the Klingon's tech originated from the Hurq after they defeated them. The comment in the trailer about picking up multiple Klingon warp signatures got me thinking they could be actually picking up Hurg signatures but because of the history, mistake them for Klingon. That or they were Klingon signatures but are there to help because of the Hurq. Common enemy and all that.

    Just a thought.

I'm not sure how much in the way of spoilers we're allowed to put in this thread. Can an admin help me out here?

My least favorite character is now dead, so yay.

Looks like more than one mirror universe episode, so it's gonna be interesting to see how this works. I've thought the mirror universe overly used thanks to STO and others but I'm gonna give Discovery a chance.

The mirror uniforms have a plus by not being the god-awful midriff uniforms of TOS and ENT, but the golden decorations for command officers seems almost Klingon in design.

'Killy' was a subtle reference to 'Killary', and while done more tastefully than other shows on TV today, I'm afraid Discovery could find itself weighed-down by the same mindless political commentary that makes other TV shows unwatchable.

The wireframe of the Constitution-class seen briefly seems to have a slight change in the original design, so it'll be interesting to see how Discovery handles that.

I watched it and tbh this fits much better than the first episodes, esp. with the Mirror Universe involved. I actually liked the redesign on the Constitution class, it was slightly altered yet still kept the original shape and feel, considering the D7 was redesigned so damn much that it looks like a Xindi worship.

The wireframe generally looked good, but the pylons make me hope the Terrans did a refit and they're not retconning the silhouette too heavily. They look kind of odd with that bend and extra bit in them.

Anyway, I'm still watching, so I may have more to say later.

I think Ash Tyler is not who he thinks he is. I mean him killing the doc after realizing who the hell he is, Staments going "The enemy is in this room" in his Mycelium crazed pseudo-god state. I believe that Ash is not human but klingon and that klingon's identity is VOQ. when Voq and L'Rell were on the Shenzou's wreckage, she informed him about her house's certain "powers" that Voq could not believe, and as crudely shown in Ash's PSTD moments of his "Torture" it looks as if Ash was not so much tortured, but TRANSFORMED from one being to another, with scans on his body showing he had underwent so much augmentation just to be human from lack of ridges to hair implantation to even spinal cord disc removal. Also noted to this is that L'Rell had a bit of a fling with Ash during his mainstay torture stay, and showing that she actually liked Voq. During Ash's visit with L'Rell she stated the Prayer of Kahless, which he acted, as if he were somehow brainwashed to do it in VOQ's deep voice (also Javid Iqbal does not exist as an actor which confirms that Shazad Latif is playing him, and has done an EXTENSIVE amount of a makeup job to hide it, considering that Shazad was supposed to play Kol).
I know this might have been proven true and all but yeah here comes "The sad one".

Actually, I think there is a whole lot more going on than you realise. Its been building in the background for weeks.
Captain Lorca is clearly from the Mirror Universe and has been trying to get back there all along. He's been lying at every turn, to hide the truth. There is a good chance the ship and many of the crew are from the mirror universe too.

There is a reason why we have seen things from Michael's viewpoint, and a reason why her and Saru joined the crew late on.
Lorca has specifically kept a close eye on Michael and there is a reason why he wouldn't let her look at the jump logs.

And why he didn't want Staments to get better, and why he's still in no rush even now being tortured.
This is the reason why Lorca is edgy and sleeps with a gun under his pillow and has changed in the eyes of his admiral girlfriend (who wanted to demote him)

This is also the reason why we are told the mirror universe Lorca was a trouble maker and locked up (meaning he was a good guy and went against the evil empire, he was obviously out of place)

There is also a reason why the Empress herself arrives at the end and shows huge interest in Lorca, almost complimenting him at one point.......Was Lorca enduring the torture because he knew she would be coming for him?
