• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

    Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

Dominion deserves to be in game...One of most powerful factions in ST universe... And I you can put Terrans on the maps...spawning randomly from Mirror Universe... I hope maps will be large...maybe for 10-16 players ;)

Be patient. I believe the project will grow up to something really epic, but now we are making its core - game mechanics and global gameplay logic.

Might something like this work?

I showed this variants to our team leader. He considered these designs too "revolutionary". Evolution class should have definite similarities to Sovereign class but with deep refit (on the base of the shown in series logic). So the ship should not look too unique from all other starships. All Fed ships in one style. It's the aim. Maybe you have any other variants?

Problem is I'm not sure if I can kitbash together something that fits your requirements. You're wanting something that keeps the general look and profile of the Sovereign but is noticeably more advanced, and from what I can tell you also want something that's as sleek as the Sovereign herself. The only thing I can think of is maybe swapping out the nacelles and adding a few things on the original Sovereign model here or there, but that quickly makes the ship look blocky, which I don't think is what you want. It might be better to look into creating a new model altogether.

Oh, yes, the new model would be the best solution. But it is not so easy. We're searching for someone who could create brand new models for some ships in DL.

Yes, the Premonition was a very good concept. It's a bit small for the needed design, but the idea is correct. Without time travel pod. Are you talking about rebuilding of Premonition model?

The baby Sovereign? Wasn't it called Regent? I love that ship.

Anyway, uss sovereign, the problem with a Sovereign refit is that the Sovereign is pretty much the top-of-the-line design. To refit older designs you make it look a little more like a Sovereign or Prometheus (my Intrepid is a good example of this). But for the Sovereign, there is no where to go in terms of styling. Vesta or maybe Argonaut, but that's about it. And I'm not sure those aesthetics would work well. Even the Seraphim relies on it's size to look more modern, stylistically it doesn't look much more advanced than a Sovereign.

Have you considered breaking away from the Sovereign? Vesta, Argonaut or Seraphim may be good alternatives if you don't mind breaking away entirely.

If you are adamant that it must be a Sovereign refit, then I'll think about what can be done. But this is a bad time of year for me to be making models so no promises.

If anyone rembers Millenium Project mod, there was Sovereign-X class I think... It had 3rd nacelle, and it was some sort of refit class...maybe more aromoured and more "firing potential" (this image has nothing with MP mod, just to give you presentation about model...Maybe this is what he is looking for...

Oh, so much variants... The screenplay says it should be a modified sovereign, so we're searching for it.

Thank you all for variants. All of them are interesting, but the most suitable are Intimidator class (Sovereign-X, uploaded by OpetJa) and Providence (uploaded by dvatreknerd314). Other designs are too modern. Most of our Federation fleet is canonical ships, and a new design should be less revolutionary. I would take Intimidator class or Providence for the game, but the trouble is that they have their own class names, so we need a new model for the Evolution class. Maybe kitbash, maybe something absolutely different with sovereign shape-similarities, but new ship class. So we would be very grateful for a brand new model.

Hm, forgot to say. Of cause all who support us or help the project will be added to the game credits.

You can very easily reuse a model and call it a different class name. Providence was the class name I came up with if I wanted to release it on my own

Maybe you could make some changes in it's design and release it as Evolution class. Of cause I don't insist. If you could add two more nacelles we would get the original Evolution concept. Don't know if it's good or bad.

I've got two variations on a four-nacelled Providence. The second one is closer to the concept you posted but only has the one set of flaps.
Hm, I have an idea how to make it go. Try to delete the guns on nacelles and the module on the engineering section. Then add a special frame on the saucer section behind the bridge. This frame would serve as pylon for torpedo module or phaser turrets. By the way, you also can add phaser turrets on the both sides of the primary hull. What do you think of such design?

The second looks more...slim. About stardrive cannons, it's difficult to say. Is it difficult to make them or remove?

The stardrive cannon is already there under the deflector. It's easy to remove.

I've got an image of the updated model as well as a close-up of the cannons so you can see their position. The close-up also shows some small torpedo turrets I placed in several locations to, in my mind, act like a point-defense system. I'm not sure if you noticed them before or not.
