I never entirely expected everyone to make it out (but I did know the Bothans were from the second Death Star), but I didn't exactly expect Halo Reach 2: Star Wars Boogaloo.

That "victory" didn't seem like much of one though. Also, Vader totally kicked rebel backside at the end.

But without it, the Rebellion would have split up, gone to ground, and been obliterated at the Empire's leisure. It was horrible, but it was necessary.

Also, Vader totally kicked rebel backside at the end.
'Vader vs hallway' was glorious. It perfectly showcased that Vader was an unstoppable monster, which was sorely needed after the prequels. His appearances in Rebels helped, but they still had to tone him down a bit there because they needed to keep him child appropriate.

Which reminds me, did anyone catch the Rebels easter-eggs? There was a call for a 'General Syndulla' on the intercom at Yavin, which it seems has been confirmed as Hera, Chopper was in the background on Yavin at some point (I missed him), and the Ghost appeared in some of the space battle shots at the end. Perhaps a future season of Rebels will feature the events of Rogue One from their own perspective?

I heard the call for General Syndulla, I missed the rest. Saw Guerera will be coming to Rebels with Forest Whitiker reprising the roll. I did like all the call backs to A New Hope. Did you notice who Jyn ran into on Jedah?

They were really easy to miss. I saw a GIF of the shot where Chopper shows up and it still took a while to spot him. There's never a really good shot of the Ghost, either, since it's never the focus. I only spotted it once, but apparently the Ghost is visible about five times.

Excellent! I thought he was a pretty so-so character on TCW, but I saw him and wondered what could have happened to him since then and why he's so far away from Onderon. He looks like he went through hell and didn't completely make it out the other side. Hopefully we get some answers.

Yeah. He's going to live, what, another week? At least we know some people got out of there in time.

What did you think of the Tarkin and Leia faces? They seem to be pretty divisive. I personally had a hard time telling if Tarkin was CGI or a double at first, but once I spotted the not-quite-right skin stretching as he spoke, I couldn't not notice it. Leia, on the other hand, I spotted immediately.

Also, I liked that while the stormtroopers were generally inferior to the rebel soldiers, they were actually a credible threat and could hit the broadside of a barn. And the death troopers (I thought they were dark troopers at first, but apparently not) were just creepy.

I'm also excited about having a Hammerhead corvette appear on the big screen. They were on Rebels first, but I just really like having a KotOR thing around. I think they're a newer model of ship from the KotOR Hammerhead cruisers, but it's just great to have them.

There's also some talk about the hooded figure who greeted Vader in the (Bacta Tank?), some say it could be Snoke!

I did love the references to SW: Rebels too, seeing the Ghost zipping about the fleet and hearing "Gen Syndulla" was cool.

CGI Tarkin and Leia was a bit iffy I agree, I guess recasting was out of the question...

An interesting possibility. Every time we've seen someone with a hooded cloak, they turned out to be a Force-sensitive, so that follows.

On the topic of Force-sensitivity, was the blind guy (Chirrut?) supposed to be an untrained Force-sensitive, or just someone that was being used by the Force? He seemed to be using some sort of Force-sight along the lines of Kreia or Kannan, but it wasn't clear to me.

Also, I just loved the line, "Are you kidding me? I'm blind!" General awesomeness combined with the occasional blind joke reminded me of Toph.

They were spectacular when they weren't talking, though, particularly Tarkin. Movement was what gave it away for me.

If I recall (could be wrong) Chirrut was force sensitive but didn't make it into the academy. Remember, they wouldn't let anyone in after a certain age (Anakin was an exception and that turned out great) so he may have been discovered too late. He truly believed in the Force so he devoted his life to it and became a monk at a Jedi temple. There was a temple there on Jedah so that may be where he worked.

As for the hooded figure at Vader's castle (for lack of a better term), I have seen it refuted several times that he was not Snoke. That is not to say Snoke did not fill a similar role, perhaps with the Emperor.

Just learned something amusing. On Scarif, you can hear two stormtroopers talking about something called a T-15 being phased out. In A New Hope, while Obi-wan is sneaking around the Death Star, two stormtroopers are discussing the new T-16. In The Force Awakens, two stormtroopers can be heard talking about the T-17. Just thought it was an amusing bit of continuity.

Edit: Also, Darth_Stonewall apparently made this and posted it on Reddit. Just though it was cool.

I really loved the movie, and as others here have said; The Darth Vader vs. hallway scene was great. I remember thinking "uh-oh" then we heard his breathing coming from the darkness, right before he ignited his lightsaber. Then I thought "They're doomed". :p

I also earlier had a slight chuckle on Vader's pun there he said Krennic shouldn't choke on his ambitions/aspirations, all the while he was force-choking him.

Now I knew Krennic would be killed in the end, seeing as he's not in "A New Hope", but I didn't expect for it to be the Death Star that did it. And Krennic knew what was about to happen there as he saw it pointing at him.

About the Rebels easter eggs; I need to see the movie again to catch them all. But I think I saw Ghost in one of the five times it's mentioned to be there (over Scarif). :)

I'll may mention more later. :)

I ended up restarting Clone Wars after this. Haven't gotten to Rebels yet, but I'm looking forward to it, especially because of the tie-ins that I've seen mentioned online.

Rebels is great, especially the season 2 finale. No spoilers, but I really don't know how they're going to top it.

I was on and off with The Clone Wars, mostly because I was not able to watch it. I love Rebels and have not missed an episode. I need to go back and binge TCW.

Just found out yesterday that the episodes of Clone Wars aren't in chronological order. Now I want to go back and do it the right way.

Here's the link: http://www.starwars.com/news/star-wars-the-clone-wars-chronological-episodeorder
Yeah, they jump around a lot. Some of the episodes are even set before the pilot movie. There are also a small number of continuity issues with the official timeline. They're mostly in order starting from midway through the third season, though. This is the one I used. Also note that Revival was the first episode of season 5 aired, but is actually the thirteenth both chronologically and in production. Cartoon Network wanted a big opening for the season.

Finally saw the film yesterday. It was pretty awesome. I really love the new entry/exit for light speed effects with the last 2 movies. When Vader's ISD arrived at the planet at the end right after the fleet left, so cool. I didn't care for the new tie fighters being seen. Why introduce something that was never seen again in the original movies? Hammerhead Corvette awesome. Loved seeing the Ion Torpedoes hit that one ISD.

I didn't care for the CGI Tarkin. Pretty creepy. Leia's wasn't quite as bad. Her face seemed a little a lot more round than normal.

Overall very good movie though. Sure I could nitpick many things, but overall very enjoyable.

I've been thinking about this and in the original trilogy the Death Star blew planets up outright. In this latest film are we to assume the entire planet blew up since it was never technically shown? Yes the destruction was immense with huge parts of the planet destroyed, but just curious of others' thoughts.

The Death Star is only capable of obliterating a planet into an asteroid field when firing with all reactors. They only ever use one at a time in Rogue One, which is still equivalent to a large nuke at least. Using more reactors could probably render the target planet uninhabitable by destroying the atmosphere and ruining the surface or be used as a planet cracker, leaving behind large chunks. Alderaan is the only planet to actually have been destroyed by either Death Star.

I agree with Cabal. You even hear Tarkin say at the Battle of Scarif that "only one reactor should do." Or something to that effect.

Yeah, they only destroyed parts of the planet. But that still show how powerful the Death Star is.
