• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

Well most of you by now know that in Yesteryears special weapons play a minor role. Also not every ship is equipped with them and there is only around 5-6 per race with one of them being the cloak detector which is now very expensive and slow to research as after all it gives the player a major advantage against the Romulans and Klingons.

Now if you have any ideas on special weapons please speak up. We have quite a few of our own but would love to hear what you have in mind. You never know, we may end up using some of your ideas instead of our own. ;)

Some time ago I suggested that a BoP would be able to fire while cloaked like in Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country....But someone, somewhere, erased it....*cough*

I think it was more like...oh, how does one say... dismissed...

I'd like to point out to anyone thinking they have a suggestion. A2 has a lot of limits in this area, as it has to be do-able, it has to fall within the presets already hardcoded into the game. That is the reason so so many great ideas never make the final cut in a mod. Hardcoding is basically the built in laws of physics. So it has to be do-able before it can be done.

So please do make your suggestions.... We hope that can be done. If you have a working example of the suggestion, please PM it to Majestic or myself.

You could use the one I released on a2files a while ago if you wanted to.

How about a modulated phaser capable of penetrating any shields.

If it was removed was most likely due to it being totally off topic. I have been forced to remove a few of yours posts as they had nothing whatsoever to do with the topic they were posted in.

As for the BOP cloak, it won't be used. Due to the face it was a one off weapon destroyed with Chang and if it wasn't by TNG the whole Klingon fleet would be using it.

Not really a special weapon per say but it is a suggestion. For starbase to ship transporters, how about seeing a little shuttlecraft running back and forth? I saw something similar...it actually was shuttles orbiting a station, but I think it would be pretty cool. Not really sure which one it was...Fleet Operations. Ya it was Fleet Ops.

You could use the Galieo 5 textures.

Maybe not. Don't know yet. Though we are trying not to have special weapons super weapons, just a little something that can help a ship tip the balance of a fight slightly. :)

Well, in Klingon Academy 2: The General War (now discontinued over at the Site-Which-Must-Not-Be-Named) electronic countermeasures and electronic counter-countermeasures were used.

Basically, ECM decreased enemy accuracy; ECCM increased allied accuracy. That fit in with what you're looking for?

Yeah, and you could always use the stock Cardassian sensor scrambler as a base for it.

And KA:2 has been resumed btw.

Well, that shows you how much I know.

Is there a way for one vessel to interfere with another vessel's warp capability?

Yes, in the stock models, it is called the gravity mines used by the Klingon Bird of Prey. The GMs are very similar to the Antimatter mines equipped to Defiant class vessels, but instead of exploding they attach themselves to the outer hall of a vessel. After a period of time, the GMs lose thier power supply from "batteries" thus losing thier magnetic capabilites and detach from the said vessel. With out power or magnetism, they are unable to be reused. Klingons do not deem it neccessary to retrieve and salvage used equipment.

A gravity well is an alternative to the Gravity Mines Tim mentioned. A weapon that creates a gravity well (like what a planet has) is a good way to stop warp power from being used.

Have you decide whether or not a gravity well generator will be in the game, and if so, what ship or class of ships?

If we still go with the idea of the first mission being the historic battle at Khitomer from ST6 then the heat seeking torp will be in. ;)

Sounds good to me. Have you thought about the "tribble" launcher from the "other" site? :lol2:

We want realistic weapons, ones that can be plausible in canon.
