Hello:
Minutes ago started a simulation of an earthquake (over 8 in the Richter scale) with a tsunami in my city as a preparation for an event we all know can happen.
What makes this simulation great is because it is:
1) the first time it is made here at this magnitude and
2) Two combat airplanes flew at a very low altitude giving the start for the event and then the evacuation of the population into safety zones.

This might not be the best video, and I wish I could say it is mine, but here is a video and the guy filming was able to take a glance at one of the two planes that passed over the city.

And in a quick note, one of the helicopters that are now flying around the city is a variety of the Bell222, so we have our own Airwolf  .

Its one of the F-16C from the"Peace Puma program"

The U.S. Air Force worked the Chilean Air Force as the latest improvement in the long-term relationship between our two nations’ air forces :)

Must have been pretty intense despite being a simulation, how long did the exercise take?

Hello:
I was intense indeed, but since my house is away from danger zones (due to a tsunami) so I did not evacuate. But I do know that it took the people about 20 minutes to reach the safety points in certain areas of the city, which is in the expected time with about 50 thousand people been evacuated from the dangerous zones... but 6000 did not participate so they were declared "dead".

Official data said that the simulation started at 11:40 am with the flight of the two F-16 aircrafts and ended at 12:23 pm with the announcement of the authorities.

The simulation was of an earthquake magnitude 8,2 in the Richter Scale with an epicenter in the ocean 170 km southwest of Arica (my city), and a tsunami with waves of 12 meters height.

The F-16s were great, they passed over my house. They were spectacular.
