• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

    Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

    We have a policy of fairness and a non harassment environment, with the staff quick to act on the rare occasion of when this policy is breached. Feel free to register and join our community.

I've been waiting for any new developments. I have no doubt that when you reveal the Ekoset, they will look as stunning as the rest of this game. That'd take care of all the player races ...

Have you been working on the NPC races as well, or are they good enough for now that you don't necessarily need to update them?

I'll be redoing all the NPC's as well as the other two player races after the Ekoset. I should have the Ekoset done in a day or so hopefully.

Man TUN, the stuff you put out keeps on getting more and more beautiful!! The only thing is I get a tick in my head when I start to think about how they may run in-game. Are the renders we see here how they actually look in-game, or are the playable models reduced to a small degree to ensure better playability?

So, I just have to say, you are awesome. Seriously, you are really good with the modelling. This is top-notch quality, and it's just one person who's doing all this. And I'm glad that that person is you, and that you have the ability to make something as awesome as Sigma. Hopefully someday it will be more than just an Armada/Flops mod. I look forward to the NPCs - and the next release, of course.

The renders shown in my last post were all in Maya, the engine sadly does not support the awesome glow effects that I really want, at least not yet. The models are not too high poly really, the highest one (The Mylock Terminus ship) is about 10,000 polys. As a reference point, the Intrepid model in FO is 7500 polys. I was trained to keep things as low poly as possible and most of the models I make for Sigma recently rarely goes above 7000 polys.

Hopefully someday it will be more than just an Armada/Flops mod. I look forward to the NPCs - and the next release, of course.

Maybe one day it will be more then a mod, but until then it will always be free which I think is a plus. :excited:

Wow, that music almost has a BSG feel to it. Also, that glass is amazing! Tons of detail and the render looks very real. Great job!:Y

Beautiful work! A very impressive piece of music and the glass renders are stunning. Lots of people pay little attention to music in a game but it really makes up a significant fraction of the total experience. Poorly done or incorrect music can seriously detract from an otherwise first rate game or mod. I am going to diagree with Adm_Z about the BSG feel to the music, lol. To me it feels much more like something from Babylon 5. It was easy to close my eyes and imagine a Centauri fleet shaking out into battle formation over a Narn colony world.

That glass is very very impressive-looking, quite the talent to make that one :D .

The music was very nice too, maybe a mix between Two Steps from Hell-like music with a bit of Babylon5 epicness.

For what I have seen, your mod will not only have amazing models, unque features, but also great music :thumbsup: .

Chiletrek once pointed out to me music makes up about 40% of a game experience. He was right, as he normally is about most things. I can only hope the rest of the tunage you've planned is as good or better.

I sort of went all out crazy with wildlife this weekend, and probably made what is shaping up to be one of my favorite maps. I just need to make a nice new background for it.

Well, I'm very, very close to finishing the first campaign mission. Everything is scripted and working properly, I'm just waiting for the last batch of voiceovers to come in and for megadroid to fix a music related bug in MMM. As such I'll have a video playthrough up soon, and a release sometime after the next FO patch. In the meantime I've made a campaign selection screen:

I'll probably put up detailed information on the Celestial Garden and all the maps when they are finished. Celectial Garden is my attempt to push the ecosystem AI as much as possible.
