[Request] Ship Request Thread

Want a ship made? Going to ask nicely and not expect it to be done? Have reference images of the design you want?

Then ask away here.

The idea comes from @Rifraf who contacted me about this. Considering A2F is effectively dead it's probably about time to do something like this here on MSFC.

Pretty simple, provide reference material (as attachments not links), ask nicely and provide as much information and then sit back and wait to see if someone wants to take your request up.

Remember modelers are pretty scarce now days in this community. Many are doing their own projects, or have retired from the scene. We all have real life's and interests, so we may only take up models that interest us.

Well I only had 2 ships in mind when I approached Majestic with this and I know everyone is very busy and has their own lives/projects, but never hurts to ask.

I'll only post 1 and it's the USS Balmung, an Ambassador Variant that I've always thought was pretty cool. Does one need permission to make a model/texture from another persons' drawing/art?

As long as you credit the original artist I see that there is no problem. However if you need to get into contact with Madkiofish he is on Deviantart as RushedArt who I have on my watch list and can ask him on your behalf if you like. He is also on SFM.

I always liked the Balmung myself and if YY was set a little later in the timeline I would have made it for that mod.

The description from Memory Beta:

The Archer-class was a type of Federation Starfleet scout vessel in service at least in the 2260s. Archer-class ships were designed to go "very far, very fast, and not be noticed." They go "to the edge of nowhere and peek behind the curtains."

The ships are small and cramped. Of the crew of 14, only the captain and first officerhave their own quarters. The remainder of the crew shares 4 single-bed compartments by "hot bunking". The ship is also too small to have a turbolift system, instead crew rely on ladders to travel between decks.

The class was named for the famous 22nd century explorer and the fourth President of the United Federation of Planets, Jonathan Archer of United Earth and the United Federation of Planets.

Oh yeah, the Balmung is one of those "middle of the road" designs that I like. With some alterations it could also stand-in for the Renaissance Class quite nicely.

A while back I converted the BC version for personal use. Masterfully modeled by GMunoz I might add. As expected, she's bit high on the poly count. So a new A2 friendly model may be in order.

If I recall I just went with it, considering it's a original model and not his, and I just credited him as the original designer. I did the same for the Somerset (ENT) model.

There are some interesting designs among them.
I think, the Excalibur will grow on me.

Here's a few things I've asked for elsewhere, but could never find anyone interested enough to do all the heavy lifting! They're oddities, so not sure anyone here will be interested, either, but it doesn't hurt to ask:

I'm looking for the Federation Tug.


I'm also interested in seeing the Species 8472 Fluidic Gate redone as a Ferengi shipyard, with the animation intact-- so, Ferengi metal and curves, with the SideColor band left on it for team clarification.

Aad, there is no hurry, whatsoever! I am currently struggling with trying to get my Life Support special weapon going. If you ever feel like doing it, I'd love to see it available for myself and others. No pressure!

For your information, the K'vort'cha has already been done a few years back. You can grab it off armadafiles if you want it.

EDIT: Never mind that, it has the same name but seems to be a different design.

Actually, wasn't there one in MAP's BI:VR as well? (That's Borg Incursion: Vital Responses for all you non-oldtimers.) Now that I look at the design, I think I've seen it there.

EDIT: Yeah, there it is. I thought it seemed familiar. As usual, BI:VR is a treasure trove.

Yeah it was in there, there were a lot of new designs that came with that mod. It was pretty big back in the day I remembered being excited when it came out. Boy that is starting to show my age.

Um, not to get off topic, but has anyone seen Space battleship Yamato 2199? They just recreated the series to modern specs and the Yukikaze is awesome. It's not Star Trek, but could someone model this?
