Secret Diary of a Call Girl is a British TV series shown on ITV starring Billie Piper.

It is based on the blogs of London call girl Belle de Jour.

Australian viewers will have a chance to see it as TV Tonight reports that 9 has bought the show. No word on when 9 will show it.

Wasn't there a movie made with that same name? or something Very close to it? I've gotta give it to the brits, they will put anythign on TV. The censors are stil trying to shield kids from things they hear and see in everyday life over here.

there was a reason that the ninja turtles had to be the hero turtles over here....
and why robin hood hasn't killed folks...

for that matter swearing and the like is still a ot tighter controlled here than many other places...

Like Oz for instance where they have rather accepted it as a common language.

Actress Billie Piper has signed up to star in a second series of the ITV2 hit Secret Diary of a Call Girl.
The show, which was based on an online diary written under the pseudonym Belle de Jour, attracted just under 2 million viewers on its debut in September.

The new series, set to be broadcast next year, will see Belle's life get more complicated.

ITV2 Controller Zai Bennett said the show had been a "huge creative and commercial success" for the channel.

"The bold concept and slick production has really captured the heart of the ITV2 audience and we look forward to seeing more of Billie Piper as Belle," Bennett added.

The series' risque sex scenes recently earned it a nomination for best soft core production at the UK Adult Film Awards.

Belle, who wrote about her life as an upmarket prostitute, has remained anonymous since first publishing her diaries in 2003.

Her blog has also led to a column in the Daily Telegraph and two books."

they are based on books (bestsellers in fact) written by an 'industry professional' and allegedly about her actual experiences... (although anyone without an excess of dopamine in their brain might doubt a few of the facts).

and to be honest there have been a lot more shocking things out there than a hooker's story

Trainspotting junkies...gangsters putting people's heads in vices....people getting fed to pigs...

but yup I am pretty sure this represents another liberalisation, or at the very least a more open discussion of one of our culture's taboos (the netherlands have had their own versions of this story for a very long time)

With Secret Diary of a Call Girl to debut on 9 two nights from now, today's Sydney Sunday Telegraph has an interview with Billie Piper.

The article by Richard Clune starts off with him writing that Billie has wowed audiences as Rose and then impressing critics in the Sally Lockhart Mysteries.

As Belle de Jour in Secret Diary of a Call Girl he described as her controversial role. Billie says that the role didn't scare her but drew her towards it saying that as an actress she thought it would be a challenging role. It details pretty much about the subject matter of the series which I won't repeat here as I don't think it will be appropriate.

As mentioned before Secret Diary of A Call Girl made its debut on 9 two nights ago. The show is formatted as a half hour show and the screening on 9 is that of two episodes.

In the second episode it guest starred Jamie Sives who reunites with Billie Piper as he was Captain Reynolds in the season 32 Doctor Who episode Tooth and Claw.

As for Billie's performance in the series the only thing I can say is that it is certainly quite a different character that she is playing to what I have seen before.

Episode 3 was fun as Belle was having a little adventure when her client fell asleep while episode 4 was very disturbing with what the client in this episode asked her to do.

Season 2 will start on 9 in double episodes (the series consists of 8 half hour episodes) from Tuesday February 17 10:30pm.

Which means Billie will be seen in two shows on free to air channels due to the reruns of Doctor Who season 32 earlier on Tuesday evenings on ABC1.

Quite an interesting idea having Belle meeting the wife of one of her clients in episode 3.
Episode 4 is very notable with Hannah's final line in this episode.
