The North Sea Confederation is one of the major governments in the UEO but unlike NORPAC (US, Canada, Japan) the NSC (France, UK, Germany, "Low Countries") held on to there own independant Military structures (NORPAC formed the basis for the UEO's own military forces).

While not as powerful or as large as the UEO or Macronesian Alliance military the NSC is a major military power all on its own.

Lafayette Class

The original Lafayette's were introduced in 2017 as a advanced yet conventional Nuclear Hunter Killer. By the mid-2020's the NSC had redesigned the Lafayette to incorperate newer technology like Fusion power and Hydro-Return Drive. All active Lafayette Class boats are this Flight 2 standard

Le Vigilant Class

The growing threat of war between the UEO and the Macronesian Alliance forced the NSC to consider rapidly updating its fleet. The Le Vigilant (Vigilant) Class was the result.

Venerable Class

The NSC needed a proper subfighter carrier in order to remain relevent in the "new order" of submarine combat. It was decided to use the Vigilant Class as the basis for this new Carrier. Radicaly altered both inside and out the Venerable is a very capable carrier

Pegasus Class

While the Vigilant is a capable war sub the NSC quickly realized it would not be enough against the larger units of both the UEO and the Mac Alliance. the Pegasus was built to fill the role of Strike Cruiser and match the UEO's Defiance and the Alliances Tempest Class boats.

Platypus Class

Using the Vigilant as a starting point yet again the Platypus is the NSCs special warfare sub. While not the most effective direct combatant the large hypersonar array and electonic countermeasure suite of the Platypus makes it a integral part of the NSC battlespace.

Great designs! I really like the textures of these ships.

However: You should try to make them a little more streamlined. The Platypus class, for example, has a really large bow section, which would make the sub a) slower and b) louder.

The Venerable class has a similar round section (I guess this time for the fighter squads). You could stretch that section to the beginning of the "ridge" on the topside of the sub.

Will you still use the "real-world" submarines?

I'm debating the use of real world subs in this mod as it stands now. A lot of work has been done in that regard by yourself (EAS) and myself.

The problem is the seaQuest made many of those old subs obsolete and the various confederations of the world knew it. The build up of new Advanced subs and the introduction of sub fighters would make the "older" subs of the early 21st century obsolete.

I'd like to find some way to use them that makes sense, probably as map units or Pirate subs (especially your Russian Confed subs).

The Nose of the Platypus is actually based on a real sub concept put forward by BAE for the UK Navy, I'll post some pics if that ship later.

As for the Venerable, I'll take a look but I think the shape of the hanger pods is hydro-dynamic enough that drag wouldn't be a serious issue as the shape is somewhat wing-like.

I'm looking for an opinion...

This is the Illustrious Class, the NSCs version of the seaQuest. I've been working on giving the ship a bioskin hull like the seaQuest herself has while keeping the look of the skin distinctly different from the UEO's.

Should I go with the bioskin version...

or have it more in keeping with the rest of the fleets armoured look

I think that ^ (this) one is better. The other one just looks out of place personally.

These look great!
Really looking forward to the final release.
How many submarines per team are you planning?

Thanks Straxus,

I'm doing around 10 combat units depending on the race.
Everything from subfighters up to Battleships/subs.

2-3 subfighters
2-3 SSNs
1 Carrier
1 Cruiser
1 Battle cruiser
1-2 special weapon ships

1 hero unit
1 Battleship

The NSC and Choadai will not have battleships. The UEO will have a few extra units.

Of course the A1 version is going to be a little smaller as I want to set that one in a earlier period and take advantage of the A2 patch project for the A2 version.
