This is some very impressive top notch modeling. Plus you can't go wrong with ship fly-by's, they always look cool.

I like. Not sure about lightwave, but I'd assume it's some sort of particle system?

Very fluid nonetheless, and with some glow applied for the final piece it will look brilliant

Yes you are right it is a particle system. I may end up attaching models to the particles for the drones instead of using hypervoxels.

Got some experimenting ahead of myself.

Hello:
I agree, the Bomber looks very good and the concept for Drones is great... I wish you could have something like that for Armada 1/2.
Keep it up! :)

Hello:
Hehehe, that was very cool, I can see that you can easily make recreations for some Stargate scenes or to make your own battles.
I look forward to see more .

I'm taking part in a community demo reel to help promote another forum I'm part of. Each person is doing some still images and animations if they can. What I want to summit is a short scene of a ship coming out of hyperspace, firing off 20-50 drones and blowing something up.

Naturally I'll be posting my wip and final scene here.

Even better . Did it make any difference to render time?
The first scene that just used hypervoxels took about 13-16 minutes to render out. The new scene with the modeled drones took under 10 so yes there was a fair sized time saving.

I'm about happy with the firing segment so I'm going back to work on the jumper out segment and then after that I'll start on the blowing up of stuff.

Yeah blowing stuff up is good.

You've done some real quality work here. Is this all done in Lightwave? Which version do you run?

I can't wait till this is completed and we can see the entire video in one shot. :)

Yes it's all done in Lightwave 9.6.

The firing effect was the easy part. It's going to take some trail and error to make the hyperspace window.

I secured myself a copy of Lightwave 9.6 recently, for the purposes of high poly modelling a 3d animation.

Are you planing an entire video of the ships exiting hyperspace and shooting and blowing each other up?
