The whole of the city so far.

Most of the major elements are done or nearing it and all that will remain is filling in the rest of the city with buildings.

Wow, that's some really amazing work, it's shaping up great. Are you planning on having building on the bottom tier/level?

Yes there will be buildings on all 3 levels. The top two will be the most dense but the bottom will have some other equipment taking up the space as well as buildings spread between.

That will look really great when done. I hope you get around to doing some renders of the city. Will make great desktop wallpapers. :)

The modeling will be done for sure for the contest (ends september 5th) But the texturing may happen after. Needless to say there will be some kind of nice scene made up that I will post here.

I really gotta say that's probably the sexiest **** thing I've ever seen.
This will be by far the largest scale model I have ever done.

Right now she is at about 14.2 million polygons, takes 8GB of ram just to load and uses just under 700mb of HD space for all the files.

Note, that is just to load the scene. You still have to hit the render button which adds another 2GB of ram usage. :cry2:

Stunning work RJB, really amazing stuff!

I have no doubt you'll either win or at least do very well in the contest with modelling like this! Best of luck!

Started on a model that will become a city ship for a space based civilization.

So far I have started on the basic shell that will cover the city and foundry / shipyard that will be in the center area. The shell would be about 1-2% done at this point so lots of details yet to come.

Thanks BQ

I started on the rough-in of both the dock area and the main blocks that the city will be mounted on. I also played with a base layer paneling idea but I'm going to try something different.

It's progressing very well. I am curious to see what the city itself will look like on this design. :)

How log did that take? :Y:eek::shock:
If you mean the city, it was for a contest which ran for a month. Total time would be around 8-10 days at about 6-8 hours each. If you mean my new ships then that would be about 1-1 1/2 hours of work.

Ok I got side tracked by another contest. This time around it is to create a hand-held device. It can be anything from a Cell-phone, MP3 player of a Hand-held computer. For myself I'm going the hand-held computer / phone route.

Here is my early wip.
