• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

We have a policy of fairness and a non harassment environment, with the staff quick to act on the rare occasion of when this policy is breached. Feel free to register and join our community.

Evenin' all,

After ten years of modding, I've finally decided to call it a day.

I know I've not released much, certainly not recently, so there'll be no effect whatsoever, but I'm doing this mostly so I can stop kidding myself that I'm eventually going to get something done. I know I'm not, you think I'm not, so why keep lying to myself?

The main reason is the general state of the community (outside MSFC, of course). A2Files & FileFront Forums aren't even worth visiting any more, as they rarely even work, AFC has only 2 active members (MaP and JetNova16, lol), and the FlOps forums are just full of jumped-up little trolls who only log in to argue with each other, and I'm sick of being dragged down to their level. Most times I'll end up getting entangled in some stupid argument with a petty little prick who can hardly string two words together, and I know I'm better than all that. I'm 25; why am I arguing with a bloody 13 year old who's never been more than half a mile from his own house? I end up getting so annoyed or stressed I lose all motivation to mod ("Why on earth should I make something for these morons to enjoy?"). Even now, when I have plenty of free time, there's always someone who'll spoil it. It's just too much negativity.

This has been going on for at least 2 years now, as I remember thinking the things when I was living in Brazil and stuck in a continual argument with some other troll. I don't need the stress, it's not worth it, so I'm not willing to keep putting myself in that situation any more.

I'll still be around here every now and again, I guess, I just need some time to get myself sorted.

Apologies to people who have supported me and encouraged me in the past, especially Chiletrek and Majestic, but I just don't want to do it any more.

Atlantis signing off.

Sorry to hear that - that's why it's important to pick your battles in my opinion and just carry on creating content without too much of a concern on how *everybody* sees it :) . This year will see quite a phenomenal increase in 'nice modding/gameplay things' (hopefully not just for FO), so it's sad to see you go.

Always had been looking forward to see you release your Babylong 5 stuff

Indeed, it is sad to see yet another modder go, but it is also good that you have made a decision. I hope you are more at peace, but more importantly, I hope you will hang around here a bit too.:p Just because you aren't modding doesn't mean we wouldn't still want you here. Certainly does not have to be a goodbye.

I can understand Atlantis, I also agree with Hellkite and don't be a stranger.

Also if you have any unfinished works feel free to either release them here or pass them onto me. Especially your Babylon 5 work as it's top notch. I love that outpost you did, Orion is it called?

I hope to see you here still and good luck with everything. I ask that you keep an eye on Yesteryears however, as I have something that you may like coming up in the next few months. :D

Hello:
I'm sorry to hear that, but I agree that you can still be around and chat every now and then if you feel like it.

I can imagine you need to get all of your priorities sorted out and to avoid getting more problems due to the trolls out there, they just know how to ruin things for the rest of us.

I thank you for allowing me to be a friend, and remember that you were one of the two Jedi Masters of modding I was always looking forward to reach the level of. And I waish you success in all of your future endeavours .

Such a bummer man and I can relate to your reasons.

Hey, if you got some unfinished ships, maybe you could pass them on to us.

Atlantis, you're fired! :lol2:

I completly understand your reasons for quitting. Especially concerning A2files I share your feelings. I have never been around the FLOPS board, so I don't know about that and AFC was a good community - back when Bill Clinton was POTUS...

But please try to stick 'round MSFC. It would be nice to see you around here now and then.

Anyway, I hope that we'll still see you around on the forum sometimes.

Thanks for the kind words, everyone. Much appreciated.

It really crossed the line for me a few days ago. A recent argument with one of FlOps's resident trolls, whose ego couldn't handle that they'd said something wrong, eventually led to a load of personal attacks on my intelligence and personality, and then after further conversation by PM to try and calm things down and suggesting a clean slate, I get a PM saying "f*** off!" (uncensored, I mean) and "omg lol, you should be in a freakshow"... As if I'm going to stick around to be spoken to like that. In the grand scheme of things, there are much bigger things happening in the world, or even in my own life, so this kind of nonsense isn't worth the hassle.

I'm not sure what I'll be doing with my custom installs and WIPs right now. At the moment they're just on the archive HDD, as I had to reformat the computer anyway, but I'll be having a proper sort out at some point, so if there is anything worth releasing/finishing, MSFC will be the place to see it. :)

I'll still be around here, that's for certain. I've deleted all the other sites from my bookmarks, as I get email updates of FlOps' news anyway, and everything else of note is here, so it's no real loss. I'll still be playing A2, FlOps, and whatever mods come out, as with Yesteryears, Sigma, Dawn of War, and all the others too numerous to list quickly, there's still plenty to enjoy as a player.

I will be continuing work on my custom Fallout-3 install, which as I have never joined any of TES/Fallout's modding communities or forums, I'm able to just enjoy for myself.

I suppose it also gives me an extra reason to concentrate more on the non-modding sections of MSFC; to help get even more general/scifi conversation going here. =)

Let me, as a staff member, assure you, Atlantis, that such attacks will not be possible here on MSFC, wether by PM or in an open post. The Staff would deal with such people appropriately.

I am glad, that you want to stick around here.

Ahhh, it was Mr.XT that did it? Aka, Eraldo, and some other aliases he's used in the past. There's a reason for that... his aliases last about 6 months online before people either blacklist him or repeatedly kick him out of games, or just ignore him on the forums.

Indeed, here at MSFC such behaviour like that would insure a race between the Admins in which who could ban that person first. It's shocking that you got that type of response when all you were trying to do was solve the situation in a adult and mature manner. I would've reported the PM to Dom or one of the other staff members. I did this with Jetnova more than once, especially when I was trying to sort things out with him. The guy even posted on AFC and said I agreed to things that I never did. Should've expected that!

One thing is for certain I am glad you're sticking around with us.

Sorry to see you're stopping releasing things for A2. I've always enjoyed the things you have shared with us. I understand exactly how you feel. Especially about some of the people over on the FLOPs forum. There are some very good folks over there whose tolerance level for nonsense is much higher than us mere mortals. But that's how FLOPs rolls. And I most definitely do not mean this remark as a cheap shot. It is what it is and anyone expecting different really ought to know better.

I hope you find another game or something which gets you as enthused again as you once were about A1 and A2. There are plenty of things out there which could use some of your quality attention.

Atlantis,

Sorry to see a modder go, but i can understand why.

You mentioned trolls at the FO forum. I hope you don't consider me one since i try to stay respectful (although i admit that i lost my temper a few times as well).

See you around and if any ideas for mods pop up i for one am eager to hear them.
