• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

We have a policy of fairness and a non harassment environment, with the staff quick to act on the rare occasion of when this policy is breached. Feel free to register and join our community.

six hundred million gamers could be war criminals red cross says

Just read it, and it comes from my country. I am so ashamed, disturbed at reading that and outraged. Seriously are they going to arrest a 6 year old for playing Halo or something (not that a 6 year old should be playing it but that's not the point).

I mean come on they are make believe, fantasy, if they intend on doing this why aren't they stopping violent movies? To me it seems they just want to pick on gamers again, squash our rights of freedom and personal choice, take away a parents right to say what their kids can and can't play. Why don't they do their bloody jobs, go help those poor people in Africa who are starving and dying of sickness rather than pull this poop on us gamers.

This is ridiculous. It's like if Mario or Zelda players were charged with animal cruelty because of the hostile animals in the games. Or if an American football player was charged with aggravated assault during a game because he tackled somebody.

Yes. I have brutally slaughtered many wolfos in Ocarina of Time. That was obviously an evil thing to do. Let's Occupy Hyrule. :p

Here are my favorate comments from said article. put in spoiler tag to ruduce exposure, VEIW AT OWN RISK:

An organization that is beyond it's expiry date. An organization that created laws for wars that were somewhat civilised. Now we have beheadings of caputered soldiers, torturing of soldiers but the so called good guys must play nice or we will take your game away. If they got nothing better to do perhaps they should talk their dribble in Afghanistan... oh thats right the taliban will kidnap them and cut their heads off.... pity that.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Good thing the Red Cross isn't supposed to be focused on helping people that really need help, otherwise this incredibly idiotic and mind-numbing discussion might be seen as a giant waste of time and resources, since said time and resources could have been focused on helping people instead. Oh, wait...

And they say gamers need to get a life....

Firstly, its Modern Warfare, not world of warfare, another brilliant article with no research or fact checking. Secondly their rules don't apply because nobody actually dies. Nothing is actually blown up. Ask for one s**** of evidence and they can't provide it. It's a simulation, with SIMULATED VIOLENCE. Next will be traffic violations for Grand Turismo players, council fines for Farmville players building without permits, the concept is ridiculous. Finally despite the unfortunate reality, war is a spectator sport. The media ensures that every single viewer can be terrified / excited / appauled / disgusted with every facet of war by broadcasting every possible clip they can in order to profi......oh no sorry, "share the truth" whilst everyone watching views from the comfort and safety of their homes. Red Cross wants to go after someone, try the mainstream media, there's more desensitising and trivialization occuring there than video games.

Really, I would have thought there were more pressing issues for the ICRC to be concerned with. Oh that's right they have solved them all.

Is It April 1st and i don't know?

Its good to know such honorable charitys exist. without them, we would all have to acept the factt that our time and money might actualy get somthing done. who would want that? Glad to hear Red Cross just painted a big 'ole target on the back of their own stinkin heads.

This has to be one of the most ridiculous things I have ever heard. Why in the hell are they wasting time, effort and money with this insanely pointless investigation when real people all over the word are suffering and dying? Who's paying for this travesty anyway?

This is one of those things you wish would turn out to be a joke, because at least then your head wouln't explode from bemused outrage.

This is just sad, and funny too. I was told this is nothing more than a rumor though, and the red cross isn't actually investigating anything. Just word of mouth though.

Lmao this is classy, just when i thought today couldnt get any funnier (With our so called "hurricane" on twitter).

I play alot of games, like alot of violence and big explosions but that being said it isnt real. I cant feel the heat of the explosions, cant feel the recoil of the MG's ect. These guys need to get a life, maybe come on Battlefield and get blown away....or better yet go to one of this worlds many conflict zones and do something useful.

Would love to see these guys on Battlefield.....someone you'd love to kill over and over again :yum:

Surely by definition a war crime must be committed within the context of a war? And, by extension, upon another human being? When this starts encroaching upon fictional representations, then we get dangerously close to censorship.

I'll admit that I don't play shooters (find them boring, if I'm honest) but even RPG's such as Fable or Mass Effect involve combat of some kind. As was pointed out, Mario and Zelda - both games that have been marketed to a younger demographic - involve some form of combat.

Like others have said, it's plain ridiculous. Video Games are not crimes.

Oh, not just Mario and Zelda. It would also include anyone playing, say, NetHack. Okay, it's just bumping an @ into other @s, but man, it's KILLING PEOPLE!
