• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

Hey guys! I'm not sure if this the right place to put this or not so if it's in the wrong place, I apologize for that.

Anyway, I recently had an issue come up with Armada 2 that I was hoping someone could help me with. The problem is the game is stretching the display horizontally to compensate for my widescreen monitor. It didn't have this issue until recently (I think installing SWTOR might have changed something), and I have no idea how to fix it. It sounds like this is a commonly encountered and probably easily fixed problem, but again, I'm not sure what to do. Do you guys have any ideas? Thanks!

Stock Armada 1 and 2 do not support widescreen and never have I'm afraid. Unless you are not talking about the UI, but the actual units etc being stretched... which in that case might require a reinstall...

Thing is, it used to work just fine (it would have black bars on the sides of the screen and display everything correctly). Now, everything is stretched to the sides, and I'm not sure why

Fleet Ops supports widescreen and there is a Stock A2 mod that you can use if you don't like FO.

It's called Stock A2 I think, It's made by Blade and is posted on the Fleet Ops forums last time I saw. Check out their modification section on the forums.

I just tried the classic mod and the problem is it throws a fit since I have more than 2 gigs of memory. That's why I use 1.2.5 normally, but for some reason, it decided to stop working with the screen resolution. What all does the classic mod alter?

That sounds like you are using the executable that's in the Classic Mod folder. That's just the A2 executable, and will launch your stock A2 game. You'll have to launch Fleet Ops -> settings ->mod settings -> launch A2 Classic Mod/create shortcut.

1.2.5 does not support more than 2 gb of RAM as well, but does allow computers with more than 2gb RAM to run A2. Only Fleet Operations allows more than 2gb of RAM to be used during games.

The classic mod is for Fleet Operations and allows a close to stock install to run on the FO mod and also allows you to use the advanced features of the FO engine and mod. Many members use the stock mod to put A2 made mods playable on FO.
