• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

    Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

[Help] Really Strange Texture Error.

So I am trying to edit the Aquiescent Class textures, but the main texture is causing me trouble. when I open it in gimp, it looks like the first attached pic, but when I open it in TGATool 2.0 it flips upsides down. I am not sure which way it is supposed to face, and when I save it in tgatool it messes with the way the textures apply to the model, even if I didn't edit the texture at all.:confused:

Whats more is that it seems to only be a problem with the Tricond1.tga and none of the others.

This is very odd, and I don't usually get these kinds of problems. Any light somebody could shed on the subject would be greatly appreciated.

This is one of the reasons why I've stopped using the TGATool Program, it acts too stubborn with certain textures for reasons I cannot explain. :oops:

What are you trying to edit Z? Could I lend a hand? :thumbsup:

An idea - try flipping the image in GIMP first, then (in theory) tga tool should flip it back to the way it's supposed to be.

Well, I was seeing if I could mimic the FO fed texture style of texture by bumpmapping and darkening the hull. I also adjusted the contrast when needed, but I"m sure you could do a better job.

I was just trying to make all ships match. Though not cannon, and maybe not the most popular style, the FO textures are unique and all match, so I was trying to get the ships I added into FO to match. this is the first ship I ran into trouble with.:sweat:

Edit: I'll try that Amature. I had that idea earlier, but forgot about it.:sweat:

I've had similar problems before. Not sure if it's really a problem with the texture/model or with TGATool, though. :sweat:

it seems to be TGATool... But! Good news! I finally extracted the picture and added the alpha manually. it finally worked. Here is the final pic of my FO-style Aquiescent Class:D

Thanks guys, I am going to try to give an alternative set of textures with any of the FO conversions I do to make the ships better match those in FO, just in case somebody wants them. I figured that somebody might like them. I am still not sold on the look, but having the option of using them as alternatives is nice.:sweat:
