• Hello and welcome to MSFC. We are a small and close knitted community who specialises in modding the game Star Trek Armada 2 and the Fleet Operations modification, however we have an open field for discussing a number of topics including movies, real life events and everything in-between.

Being such a close community, we do have some restrictions, including all users required to be registered before being able to post as well as all members requiring to have participated in the community for sometime before being able to download our modding files to name the main ones. This is done for both the protection of our members and to encourage new members to get involved with the community. We also require all new registrations to first be authorised by an Administrator and to also have an active and confirmed email account.

We have a policy of fairness and a non harassment environment, with the staff quick to act on the rare occasion of when this policy is breached. Feel free to register and join our community.

ok guys I need some help here. I know that white stars are copmletely crewed by Rangers. But I dont know the different ranks on board the ship that actually comprise the chain of command. I dont even know if there are different ranks, or if its just based on time as a ranger and or experiance. If someone could help me out I would appreciate it. Thanks.

Well, Ivanova once asked Ranger Markus, where he stands in the line.
He answered in a metaphore and thus did not relay any good info about Ranks.

I actually think, that there is a rank system in the Rangers (no military force yet has existed without a rank system, not even the Cuban Guerillieros of 1959)
This rank system might be based on experience, as it could have influence on your rank. Higher experience -> higher rank.

No but they have a kind of house system, like the Klingons.

"Lennier, Third Fane of Chidonu" or something.

In regards to this thread's original topic, the only canon Anla'Shok (translates to Ranger) rank is Anla'Shok'Na (translates to Ranger One). That rank is only held by one person at a time, the head of the entire Anla'Shok organization. IIRC, Delenn held it at one point.

Well there is a kind-of Ranger 'Grey Council' thing going on too. I also believe that Rangers are trained in various different areas, so you have Rangers with engineering specialties, Rangers with tactical (space warfare) specialties, and command Rangers.

Other than that, I've got no idea, lol.

The Ranger ranking system is indeed a grey area, as far as I am aware only the EA ranking system was fully explored in the series, I don't remember much of the Minbari, Narn or Centauri ranking system at all.

I only know of two canon Ranger ranks.

Anla'shok'na, or Ranger One, which is the general title used by the head of the Rangers, or Anla'shok.

The other is Entil'Zha, or the 'One Who Creates The Future', was Valen's title. It was next used by Sinclair, then Delenn, then, finally, Ivanova currently holds the title.

Wikipedia said:
During the interim between the Shadow Wars, the Anla'shok were usually led by the Anla'shok Na or Ranger One until the reappearance of Jeffrey Sinclair, who took Valen's title of Entil'Zha or the One Who Creates The Future. After Sinclair's disappearance, Ambassador Delenn took over the leadership of the Rangers and became Entil'Zha until her election to the Presidency of the Interstellar Alliance, John Sheridan then became the Entil'Zha following his presidency. After Sheridan was taken from the galaxy by Lorien, Susan Ivanova was named the new head of the Anla'shok.

Well i've just bought "The Rangers" supplement of the Babylon 5 RPG by Mongoose Publishing. Though I don't like the "A Call to Arms" game, the RPG really has a lot of interesting detail that fits in with the show. So watch this space :)
