On The Outside It Looked Like An Old Fashioned Police Box is a radio documentary that looked at the novelisation of Doctor Who stories from the classic series.
Before videos and DVDs the only way to experience Doctor Who again were the novelisations by Target books and this documentary presents how effective the Target books were in reliving the Doctor Who experience.
The interviews are very fascinating. Very impressive when it compared readings of the books on CD to that of its corresponding lines from the respective TV stories that the books is based on.
Excellent narration by Mark Gatiss as he recounted his memories of reading the books as a young boy. So it is very understandable when he expressed his disappointment about there being no novelisations for the current TV series.
