Right, well i think this is the right area it says i can talk abotu my PC here.

well as the subject says im having problems with my geForce 6800.

every now and then, at a compeltely random point. I will get a nv4_disp Error

i know this as it crashed my pc and i get the lovely Blue screen of death.

apparently the driver egts stuck in a continuous loop, and to protect its self is crashes.

I got in touch with the guy who sold me the card, he did some research for me (as i didnt know what was wrong didnt wanna turn my pc on till i knew) found out its a common error with teh Geforce 6 series. And what they say you should do is completely un install the drivers and reinstall new ones from the site.

Well... Ive done that, yet 3 times now i have got the same problem, I got to their website and nothing.

Basically, im asking is there anyone else out there with a geforce 6 series who may have had the same problem and know how to sort it?

or at teh very least anyone know where i should look?

Regards,
Jeddy

Search for a program called Driver Cleaner. This will totally remove the drivers (as right now parts are being left behind, happens with ATi's too).

Myself I had no end of trouble with my GeForce 6600 ceasing up and stuttering like crazy, so I traded her in for free after about 6 hours uneventful attempts at getting her to work. I knew the guy at the little shop I got her from, and in return he gave me an ATi Radeon X800XT. That was nearly 3 years ago now, and the only trouble i've had is drivers, fixed easily with the above program and then a driver reinstall. My PC refused to even boot up a few months back due to a driver error. I thought my card was on her last legs but thanks to that program, shes working fine.

Did it solve your problem?
I own a nvidia geforce 6200 and haven't had any problems with it....after i got new drvers for it, and NOT use the drivers that came with it.

well i think my problem is now hardware related, possibly unrelated to the first problem.

the freezing and crashing problem seems to have gone.

but now, my PC will only boot if i have the tower laying down. overwise i get a bios beep that means missing graphics card.

in other related news soon i should be getting an upgrade £20 and this rubbish thing for a 7800 GT (i think its GT i may be making that up)
